This would be a good one for "me" to keep in mind, that "no company would ask me to go activate a gift card as payment".

This was the biggest thing that stuck out to me. He's LITERALLY calling out his own activity as a scam.

Technically what he said was different. He said that no company would ever ask for payment of services in the form of Google cards. In this case, they accidentally gave her too much money during a refund. We all know it boils down to the same but especially for them its a totally different thing.

@@TheCorintur I was working for apple several years. At least in my country you need a certain intelligence to work for apple. Had to know technical and software issues for iphones back to several years and later on to unlock macs. If I ever happen to "find" a locked Mac now I at least know how to unlock it even if the security is activated same for iPhones lol. You literally have to study through several things to be "unlocked" for different supports and you get tested frequently on it. If you ever happen to call apple for support ask for a supervisor they are required to proceed your call to a supervisor which is trained for the next level and if you complain about the previous guy chances are high you get a small gift. Can't even count how many rechargers or store gift cards I got through this.

definitely not. it's not complicated. it used to be a very simple button on your phone, bigger than the size of your home-button on your iphone. I mean sure, old people aren't able to complete simple tasks, but remember why he gets away with talking nonesense for hours? because that's what many old people like to do. so they are/used to be very familiar with phones. it was surprisingly easy to teach my mom how to use a smartphone and you just made me realize that's just because she was so interested in it, and it would have been impossible if she didn't care about it at all. for example she doesn't care enough to learn how to download ebooks on her pad, I can do that for her so why would she care. but since old people frequently use their telephones they are going to remember what the buttons do. using phones used to be more complicated than today, for example specific phones had specific prefixes depending on the type of phone network the household was using, so if you were visiting your grandparents they would actually have to instruct you how to use the phone. there were at least 3 different prefixes, no internet to find out about them, so trying out random prefixes didn't even work half of the time.
