TI on the Strip $1.50 = 1 point on Slots, $6.00 = 1 point for VP so you earn comps 4 times faster on Slots...but your money lasts 10 times longer on VP so it's a way better play.
There is a variation you see sometimes called 'Shockwave' that, after you make a 4 of a kind gives you 10 more hands to make another one. If that miracle occurs the second 4 of a kind pays out like a Royal Flush. Of course the paytable is horrible for whatever version you are playing (95% return on a 12/8/5 machine) but for a recreational gambler its a cool game, as an alternative to slots.
I recently had the 4 aces on aces and faces video poker within around 20 ish minutes was that skill or luck? I was on 2.50 as you can imagine it paid a lot.

I play the casinos in Biloxi, MS and Video Poker is the worst way to build your comps. Most don't give you any point for playing Video Poker. Play slots, that's the best way to build comps.
Why would the strategy be different on a 9/6 payout schedule Jack's or better as opposed to an 8/5 Jack's or better payout schedule. It's the same game? Nice interview info with guest.

Question, i enjoy playing video poker and have gotten very good at strategy with several different game types. The casino i gamble at doesnt have the best pay backs on their games, for instance jacks or better is 9/5. My question is, i tend to only play double double bonus and i know it can be volatile, but i enjoy the chase for the 4 of a kind. My bankroll is t the best usually so i’m wondering should i stop playing double double and switch back to jacks or better or another game that isnt as volatile? I tend to not play jacks or better due to it being a bit boring at times

That's kind of a toss up here. Yes, it would probably be a good idea to switch to JoB for the sake of your bankroll. But having said that, if you don't have fun playing JoB then it may not be worth it if you are just a recreational player. Because at the end of the day, you are going to the casino to have fun and the comps are just a plus. So if you aren't having fun while playing then what is the point of going?
JOB is the most boring Video Poker game on earth but for advantage players it's usually the best option in most casinos. Not being a pro or having any ambitions to be a pro I usually play NSUD or one of the bonus games.
11:20 I'd love the hear Spenser's reasoning for thinking there is a better optimal strategy for a lower payable JoB, vs 9/6. Basic strategy for each game, regardless of the pay table, is based of the probabilities of the hands. those do not change with the pay tables. That was a very short sighted comment.
When the value of a full house isn’t diminished you may find that holding two pair like KK66 it may not Be the best hold. Similarly on certain straight draws you wouldn’t hold a pair over the draw

playing FPWD yielded a whoppin 10 bucks an hour + comps+promotions to a 19yr old kid in early 2000 tower records was paying a crappy 5$ i think an hour maybe 4.60 point is FPDW in its hay day of the early 80s and 90s was a gold mine and not get a tax form when hitting a royal ,25 was the icing on the cake
Sometimes you make more money playing imperfectly. I realize that over time this won't be true, but I have seen players playing incorrectly, making more money than if they had played correctly.
Comps and accruing points are almost meaningless with buffets closed and no specials in the cafe's at Stations or Boyd's. Ask for movie tix, cafe vouchers, bowling vouchers, Bingo etc... if you have a host you already know this.
So let me see if I understand: If I drop a hundred bucks in a video poker machine, my comps will be better than if I put that hundred in slots? Come on.
