101 EastBound by Fourplay From "An Evening of FourPlay" Guitar: Lee Ritenour Keyboard: Bob James Bass: Nathan East Drum: Harvey Mason My 1st favourite song from Fourplay. Enjoy!
All I can say is THANK YOU for contributing to a living legend -- brother Nathan -- been a big fan for MANY YEARS! Thanx for helping 4 Play write the BEST SONG EVER!
I don't know what I love most about this song...It could be Harvey's snare hits during Bob's solo, the part when he has just switched the sound to the electric piano and they're starting to pick up the pace. It could also be the licks Bob does just after Harveys said snare magic. What I want to say is that it's all about the details. These guys are are all masters of their respective instruments and thats why I still, after a few thousand listens, find new little things everytime I listen to this!
I GREW UPI N LA AND I KNOW WHERE THIS FREEWAY IS. THIS SONG IS AT THE TOP OF MY LIST OF FAVORITES. I PLAY IT EVERY DAY. I LOVE 4PLAY AND NATHAN IS TO ME ONE OF THE TOP BASS PLAYER IN THE WORLD. 101 EASTBOUND KEEP ME SANE.THANK Y'ALL FOR MAKING SUCH INSPIRATIONAL MUSIC.
Fourplay always sets the mood right for me, on a relaxing evening patio. Candlelight, starry midnight, full bright moon's HOT summer's night. The lucious taste of a deep red merlot, and the delectable eatables. Whatever those eatables may be, lol. Real talk : )
MR. BOB JAMES on the keyboard...MR. LEE RITNOUR on lead guitar, YALL!! NATHAN EAST ON THE BASS!!! It JUST DOESN'T get any better than these WORLD CLASS Musicians on one stage! LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! THANX 4 THE GREAT POST!
Nathan East is a Philly born jazz r&b, rock bass player & vocalist..consider one of the most recorded players in history..with more than 2000 recordings under his belt...
The best vesion of this song ever play by them!! If the Academy Award pulish off a category named "THE BEST IMPROVISATION" Nathan East could win a grammy award with this one! There´s no doubt about it!!!!!!
I remember when i seen Nathan East live in Germany, touring with Al Jarreau back in the 80s. Nice find of him. This tune is very exciting, awsome combo. Thx, peace
I have every album that this group has produced, and I must say that this song and Bali Run are the best 2 of the lot. This is in no way intended to try and take anything away from this great group of musicians.
I am loving it . Ive never seen them perform live. They are just an awesome group. I could be having a bad day and ill put on a fourplay cd and instantly feel bettter. Dont their music just make you feel good inside. Maybe its just me but i love them.
Oops...I posted earlier that another song of theirs was my fave song of theirs, but I'd forgotten of this song. It's the first one of theirs I heard and I fell in love with the song and the group...so I'd have to say THIS song is my fave of theirs. And I agree with bemolable's comment below!
What a great song! The bass is great and this is probably one of Lee's nicest grooves on a great Gibson. I was amazed to note the Marshall amp in the background. Bob James somehow has the ability to get musicians working in a way that they probably themselves never knew they could do. Now that's what I'd call musical leadership.
