Little L4 is gonna have to be a tough nut to keep up with the other three! It was lovely to see Arthur there too with the family. It looks as though he has provided well for everyone as the “larder” looks well stocked. Such a beautiful sight to see! 🥰

Couldn't be happier to see BR make history for Cornell. Welcome #4! Arthur sure has filled the pantry! But, if history repeats, later on we'll hear BR tell him he needs to go to the store again! Always makes me speechless to see BR feed so gently. A sight that never gets old.

Quite the size disparity there! We’ve got two uppercase “L’s” and two lowercase “l’s.” This year’s cuteness is brought to us by the letter “L”! Here’s hoping they all fledge happy and healthy. Thanks, Cornell.

I started watching BR's livestream when they were B's or C's... long time ago. It was addictive, so I had to stop. 😏 Now I just watch clips from different nests. Such a gift to be able to watch these nests around the world. 🤗

OMG💕 I have been waiting and waiting and waiting! Excited for everyone! L4 is a very, very special little miracle baby, she/he needs extra special attention and care. Bless these little babes for a full and happy life. And L1 knock it off with pecking the heck out of your siblings😊💗

Haha they are all super cute but the bonking phase is one of my favourite parts as long as it's not fatal or overly violent. No doubt you know it's a natural part of establishing (I'm not going to say pecking order lol) dominance. This nest looks well stocked and if it stays that way they will all have a good chance and a college try at the very least. 🙏🏻🤞

@@VictorHugo-xr1ng Falcon chicks do not seem to find it necessary to engage in any bonking behaviour in the nest and they seem to do alright as adult birds. Pecking order is a very male concept. I'm not convinced it's necessarily a plus for survival. It hasn't done much for humans!

welcome #4! but 4 chicks in that tiny nest? WOW. hope there isn’t too much bonking on the little ones 🙏🏻 what an amazing dad. the pantry looks very full.

Welcome little one! Thanks for the opportunity to see these hawks up close. Except for their red tails you just can't appreciate the intricate details of their plumage. Just fascinating! Edit: we are awaiting the hatching of the 4 eggs from long time dad Newman and 2nd year mom Zooey at Great Spirit Bluff Falcons in Minnesota very close to the Mississippi and Lock and Dam. We love their stripped pajama bottoms😎

So exciting to see L4 has hatched!🐣 They all look very healthy. L4 is so tiny compared to the other 3. So cute when Arthur stopped by to check in on his family. Four chicks make a very full nest. It will be interesting to see how BR will be able to cover and protect them from storms and rain this season. I pray all four grow, thrive and fledge successfully. Congratulations Cornell, Big Red, and Arthur!❤

In order for 4 to survive I would think/hope Arthur to help out with feeding the chicks ! It’s not an issue of food availability , one needs to be fed in order to survive

Arthur is not playing around! Lol. He must be like wth is going on?!?! So many mouths to feed, but he's showing what a seasoned hunter is capable of. I so often wonder where they go in the "off season"? Like do they remain completely separate from each other, i.e. do they live at Cornell all year long or do they migrate? I know these are emotionless killing machines but I can't help but wonder if they ever "miss" each other, in some way.

@@gillianmuspic2337 define "together" though. Like in the general area, or like both next to the nest? How do you know that? Thanks.

That L1 is already so aggressive towards his/her siblings--hope L4 can make it, but I was worried when I heard L3 hatched! L1 seems particularly nasty, at one feeding he just spent the time pecking at the others so as to not have them eat. I'm thinking perhaps why mom has laid a bounty of food around them, as to say to L1--there is plenty of food for all!!
@eightinches6094
@eightinches6094 2 года назад
All that pecking is natural at first. As we can see there's not a lack of prey in the nest. When L1 and L2 get their fill and no longer want to eat then the others will have an opportunity to eat. Lots of prey means all will eat well and eventually fledge.
@stella448
@stella448 2 года назад
@@eightinches6094 I know--I've watched nests here on YT for a few years now. That is why I feel L1 is particularly aggressive.

This is going to be one busy nest! Watching Big Red feed the bobbleheads, I notice that she eats most of the furry pieces. " Raptors eat whole prey which means that they eat the fur, feathers, bones, and teeth of their animal meal along with the muscle and organs. Bones and fur are hard to digest. To get rid of these indigestible parts, raptors cast (regurgitate or vomit) a pellet of fur and bones every 1-2 days. The regurgitated pellet is called a cast. You can sometimes find these on the ground and with close examination, tell what the raptor had to eat! You will find more bones in an owl’s cast because they haven’t been digested as well as those from a hawk." From the Wildlife Medical Clinic website at vetmed.illinois.edu.
