The Jack Doherty incident was insane…..you can literally witness the process of Fouseys ego collapse upon itself and his BPD trigger a complete manic episode as he realizes a 19 year old kid that Fousey thought he would mentor who makes the same fake prank videos that he made 10 years ago has somehow already achieved 10x more than Fousey ever has and has everything Fousey ever wanted and his ego implodes instantaneously and he immediately goes from being impressed to talking sh!t about jacks house, girl, exotic cars then calls him the devil and slaps the kid in the face.
I don’t feel bad for him at all because he’s played the mental health card over and over to avoid consequences, he is a disgusting excuse for a human being.
There was an Atlantic piece back in 2017 called Power Causes Brain Damage that touched on research showing...exactly that. To my recollection it was early results, but I assigned it as a lighter read for my undergrads because it demonstrated so neatly how, and perhaps why, dictators lose sanity when people around them are afraid to give them bad news or say no to them. I think dictators just show writ large what even a minor celeb or CEO might experience. Our sense of reality collapses when no one ever says no. ETA the Atlantic author was Jerry Useem, and he linked to the individual researchers. It will be interesting to see how this developed since '17.

1,000%! when it comes to worldwide fame it drives like 98% of people insane, lol Keanu is one of the few mega-stars on the planet that is somehow, not effected largely by the madness! you look at the opposite end of that spectrum, at a guy like Michael Jackson, whom was quite literally beaten into success as a kid, and later regressed to that child like mindset in some sort of way, just wanting to hang out with kids......is it fuckin weird? absolutely! do i think he was a pedo? fuuuuck no! i just dont think people realize what that level of fame does to your psyche! instead of ostracizing these people, calling them "freaks" and whatever else because we dont truly understand, we should be studying these people to see if theres perhaps a way to deal with these levels of fame, attention, yes-men, etc, etc and not completely lose their minds!
so a while back my bestfriend had a mental breakdown and went through a month long bout of psychosis and mania in which he lashed out terrible at any and everyone around him and it looked and sounded alot like this. he ruined lifelong friendships, his finances just everything. he was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and a few other things and is receiving treatment which has brought him back to his normal self for the most part. but this is horrifying to see someone else sound like him. A mental health crisis is no joke and it turns you into a sick and warped perversion of yourself and you have little to no control and the moments of lucidity tear you apart before you're yanked back into it. I truly hope he gets the help he needs or else this spiral will not end well l.
Fousey is very clearly experiencing mania while he's live streaming. These manic episodes are hard to watch. I feel bad for the guy. He literally has serious problems. I understand that he's allowing his problems to hurt others, and he doesn't deserve sympathy. It's still sucks that anyone can lose themselves this way.

Yep and people have tried to help him many times. He’s so self-destructive. People can only give so much advice to a person before they’re done trying to help. He doesn’t need to be on social media at all. This whole 24/7 Twitch steaming he has been doing was a horrible idea. He doesn’t want help, he wants views and success. That’s his goal.

There are too many extremely sick people out there who either don’t look at these people as fellow human beings as they poke and prod, or they do see them as human and still continue, I don’t know which is worse. Then there’s the troll who caused the situation at the end of this video. He had been sending death threats to fousey and his family and doing really messed up shit and got exactly what he wanted: the dancing monkey danced himself into handcuffs.

He attacks every1 who offers help. Then he cries that no one is there for him. Then he says some of his actions are a cry for help. Then he says no1 is there for him. Same cycle over and over, no consistency in what he says.
Unfortunately unless he’s deemed a danger to himself or others they can’t forcibly hospitalize/institutionalize him. It has to be a choice he wants to make or he has to be considered dangerous.
He needs to be flat out banned from the internet for his own sake. A judge just needs to say "No more screen time for you little fousey". And maybe he'll have a change to get his head straight

Albeit it’s unfortunate and laughable that Fousey has gone down this particular path, I still think it’s… exceptionally sad that during the entire manic episode he had, the entire chat was just laughing and pointing, wanting to see what crazy thing was going to happen next. Back in the days when the internet was barely existing, Mac/Dos computers were the thing. And all you had to rely on was word of mouth from people you hear or whatever was on the paper or on News. The good old fun days of how to spread rumors about certain videogames tricks and secrets.

As someone with mental illness: this is what happens when you convince yourself you get helped solely by others and don't need to work on yourself. Mental hospitals are definitely not helpful or useful for many types of mentally ill people and I really think he needs to face some legal punishment for this. Mental health is a reason, not an excue.

Fousey was not arrested, he was committed to a mental hospital. Huge difference. As much as his actions were wrong, it’s clear he was suffering severe mental illness. I hope he gets the help he needs.

When someone is acting this obnoxiously, and even dangerously, I've never liked the expression "_______ needs help." When they're that much of a destructive force in the world, they don't need help, they need to stop. Or if necessary, someone needs _to stop_ them. _Then_ we can talk about help.
It's still an arrest, they just didn't charge him with a crime. They arrested him and sent him for an involuntary psych evaluation where he'll be kept for a couple days until they decide what to do with him.

This is his 2 year pattern, and he uses his mental illness to justify his psycho narcissist behaviour, which is disgusting. Nothing justifies that! This goes beyond help, he needs to start by helping himself, take accountability! He also needs a lasting internet ban, inpatient treatment, and a conservatorship/guardianship by his family. I think I agree with Charlie's take on this whole situation. To see creators re-posting it trying to make it seem whacky when those who were already familiar with Fousey's last shituation know full well that this is him experiencing another manic episode due to his bipolar disorder is disappointing. The only people this guy has around him right now are people that don't really care to see him happy, they're just there because they see him in this state getting all of this attention just to promote themselves. Fousey's allegedly 2 days if not more off of his medication and there is a grand total of zero (0) people attempting to get him to see a professional to get the help he needs, but many, many content creators that are appearing in his livestreams for attention or making videos on this to make him look insane for shock value. I feel like you not mentioning the why part of him doing this and the fact he's known to suffer with bipolar disorder really misrepresents what's going on with him here.

Thanks for this. Charlie's take on it really meant something to me, as I have bipolar - few people speak up for us, and generally use our behaviour for sensationalism. I enjoy Atozy, so this video was a little disappointing.

I was disappointed to watch this video because for the most part there was no take to be had, it was just a compilation of clips of Fousey struggling. When there was a take given, it comes off as coming from the place of "Oh look at this crazy guy doing crazy stuff". To sensationalise this for internet points when it's public information and everybody familiar with him knows it's a manic episode caused by bipolar disorder honestly sickens me.
99% of people don’t understand that if someone is in a manic state of bipolar disorder, the manic person can’t control its behavior. You can’t take a schizophrenic person responsible for him hearing voices - the same is valid for manic people and their behavior (& overall symptoms). Fousey has to be put into a psychiatric hospital. Manic state is a really frightening thing. He already hit the young boy when meeting the Island Boys. Things can get a lot worse then that

The judge's statement went HARD on it, basically calling all of her claims completely implausible. I think it only happened a few weeks ago, but Rebecca Scofield's defamation suit trial is probably gonna start in early 2024 and I'm definitely interested in how it goes.

Fousey is a weird weird dude. I honestly don't know what bipolar does to someone, but I honestly don't think it takes away your ability to make decisions. Fousey made a stupid decision to say some crazy stuff on a 911 call. He should just get a good swat (not the acronym, just a smack) and be put in the corner for some time out and off the internet. That's how you deal with a grown toddler like Fousey.
bipolar does some crazy (some pun intended) shit to people. especially when you have the type of bipolar that gives you manic episodes. manic episodes can be identical to someone with schizophrenia having a psychosis episode. hallucinations, delusions (like losing touch with reality), especially paranoia-flavored ones where you believe 100% everyone is out to get you and out to hurt you; and it doesn't help that some piece of dog shit was feeding him that exact story. this asshole was telling fousey that he'd been set up, that he was going to hurt fousey and his family, so doing everything possible to fuel the fire. from personal experience, manic episodes are fucking terrifying, and the consequences don't feel real or important if they're thought about at all. not to say that fousey shouldn't be held responsible--but he needs to be properly treated to do so. i have no issue believing that fousey felt with his whole head and heart he was in danger and doing something that maybe only made sense in his head to fix that. but punishing him before he can get stable isn't gonna do any good.
Depends on if you're manic/hypomanic or not or if you have the type with psychotic features like bipolar 1 or schizoaffective bipolar disorder. It does especially if you're not on meds like me or going to therapy. However for me, it usually just means I'm mostly just bored with life. I wouldn't be able to walk up to strangers and hold a conversation like that though because I have other features like paranoia. I will however wave at people while out in public.
Bipolar actually very much does affect decision making, especially when in a manic episode which can last weeks or months. Either way dude seems more like he’s off drugs than anything
