The 2021+ Fox 36 & 38 usually come with a quick-release (QR) axle, many riders choose to swap that out for the Fox KaboltX bolt-on axle for a more clean and simple setup. We are often asked for help on this installation, as it can be a little confusing.
In this video, Tor shows you how to install the Kabolt X into your Fox 36 or 38 to get you ready for the trails!

You just saved me from a night of researching why my hub doesn’t fit my new 38 fork. Didn’t realize the floating axle acts as a backing to the hub end cap instead of the fork dropout sitting flush against the endcap. I shit myself thinking I have to install a new hub before I found this video

Top tip! Make sure to tighten that pinch bolt to 5.1nm! One time I tightened it to only 5nm and the front fell off.

I don't like my kaboltX and prefer the QR but it's hard to find the hardware set to convert to QR :(

Hi I got fox 38s on my new ebike yesterday when I added the front wheel the disc was slightly rubbing it had the QR do I need to looses and tighten this linch bolt everytime the wheels removed?

Wait...do you have to untighten the Pinch bolt to remove the Thru Axle?? Meaning everytime i remove my wheel, both need to be undone? I just purchased one of these for my new 36. Always had RockShox, and always used a Maxle instead of the QR. I have nightmares about the QR not being tight enough and my wheel coming off while i'm sending a drop or something.

I just received mine. The manual states that you only do this the first time with the pinch bolt. You may have to do it again if you switch wheels

There needs to be a kit available to swap to QR. I transport my bike and a tool less system is best for me.

Here because I’ve never owned a fox fork before, and the pinch bolt was dead loose on my factory 36 yesterday riding lol

I just got my new bike with Fox 38 and was removing the front wheel the first time. I didn’t notice the pinch bolt at first and turned the axle a couple of turns with some force. I then noticed the pinch bolt and loosened it, rest of the axle was easy to screw off. Did I make any damage to my fork or the axle by this mistake?

Ha, I did exactly the same thing with my new Fox 36. They could do a better job of warning you about the correct technique of installation and removal. I figured it out, and had the same concerns you do, but it all seems to be working fine. This was over 8 months ago.

@@paghal11 Same here on my partners. Considering they putt orange plastic onto brake discs saying "this is sharp" (even though they are rarely sharp) they really need to do something with this.

You’re actually only supposed to set it the first time you install the tire and then never do it again. Kind of makes you wonder what the point is

Yeah, otherwise you can’t undo the kabolt

Kabolt is much stiffer/stronger than QR.

I can’t unscrew my qr axle The quick release does release but the axle will not turn after that Any ideas

i got a fox 34 with grip 3 postion... i saw fox has a 3 postion remote, can i also install this on my forks? in the description of the seller it says remote is for fit4.. i couldnt find any real information online fox tutorials are horrible LOL
