It really says something when there are people who think that arming teachers and teaching children hand-to-hand combat is somehow a more logical step than introducing better gun control laws.

Missed the most obvious solution - full body armour 24/7. Helmets and body suits and bulletproof everywhere. Hot in summer, but hey, freedom and fashion! Plus nothing creates uniformity and stops the pressure of wearing designer clothing to fit in quite like uniforms. ‘Hey Karen i love your outfit’ ‘yeah, it’s my new Don’t Die 2018 look’ ‘amazing. I wish I looked that good when I was deterring maddos from getting their hands on semi-automatics and killing us all’.

You now, there are no shootings in my country. It turns out that when people can"t get their hands on guns, they suddenly can't seem to shoot at people. :-)

This issue is getting so ridiculous, one of these days i wouldnt be surprise if one of the victim's parents loose their minds and does a mass shooting in fox news just to prove the point.

Although better gun control laws will definitely help the biggest problem in the US is its mentality in regards to guns in general. No other democratic and so-called free nation has this kind of relationship with fire arms. Gun enthusiasts are one thing (though still a little weird imo), people who think they need them because they'll lose their freedom if the guns are taken away is a different thing. This last group is the core problem. Unfortunately you can find both types in the NRA, which most would agree are the key players in this matter. But it's absolutely shocking that ordinary citizens have to send their kids to school (or go to work there) never knowing if another shooting will take their lives. That doesn't spell freedom, that spells terrorism.

I am from Austria, we have a lot of guns, we all have to serve 8 month in military, so we all know how to use them. You can’t get assault rifles but still there are a lot of guns around (lots of hunters and sport shooting). But there is one thing, we don’t carry them with us, u get checked before u buy one. 3 days waiting. For a handgun u need a psychology testing, to carry it u have to have a really good reason, like bank security or bodyguard (no other way) There has never been a school shooting here, and nearly nobody gets shot I heard it’s about 10 people a year incl. Police. The police also nearly never shoot, even when the opponent is armed with a knife or he is not pointing with the gun at someone. It’s really different in Europe, I think there is more to change than only the laws.

I listen those guys on fox news and I realize those kids are much more smarter and articulated in bringing a point than those people on fox news..

The aftermath of American school shootings give those of us who live outside the U.S a much needed dose of laughter. Nothing better than watching the NRA and Fox battle congress and CNN over solutions to gun violence. Self defense and armed teachers, oh my 😂😂

In germany to own a gun you have to be a sportsman ( or police i guess) and pay and practice insanly much ( me after 14 years in shooting club, still cant afford a gun on my own because you need a huge safe to store it in your house, and you need your own house for that) and you need to be praciticing with the gun regularly and you need multiple weapon exams. And no automatic weapons are allowed at all. The idea of anyone being able to buy an automatic rifle is just insane, never gonna visit usa.

See the reason why Canada is better than the states as a foreigner who has been to the two is Canada has recognised its historic flaws and has reconciled with it, apologizing and working with the affected communities, there are also restrictions to guns to some extent, while in America, people and the government to some extent have not reconciled with the people affected by the past and that has created the toxic pool of racial incidents we see today, also the advocacy for guns has made the situation even worse...

According to quick research the second amendment was adopted 1791, the time of flint-lock pistols and muskets... How can anyone think this is acceptable with today's automatic weapons. I'm not saying people shouldn't own a gun, but military level automatic weapons don't belong in the hands of civilians :/

Didn’t Trump promise he would abolish gun-free zones, on the theory that more guns would somehow keep people safer from gun violence? Didn’t he say that when he was addressing the NRA convention during the Presidential campaign? The one with the big sign outside the convention centre saying “NO WEAPONS ALLOWED”? In other words, the convention that was itself a gun-free zone?

Somehow here in Europe mass shootings are extremely rare, too me its shocking that 19 shootings in 2018 don't start a long lasting debate in the media.

So you go to Uni to become a teacher, you learn how to educate young people, you learn about counciling them, you learn about correct procedure if they act out, and you also now learn how to shoot them.... Also.. wouldnt this just mean any prospective school shooter in the future just has a list of high priority teachers to go for first??? HOW IS THIS A SOLOUTION

I have an idea. Instead of abandoning all those bases in Afghanistan , send the kids there. They are in a protected compound , its overseas travel and that broadens the mind, and they can do real live attack training. And its SAFE, the number of Americans shot in Afghanistan is LOWER than inside the USA.

In 1996, Here in Australia, we banned guns after the Port Arthur massacre where 35 people were killed and 23 wounded. We have enjoyed 0 mass shootings since.

I've read a book called 'awaken'. It takes place in the US somewhere in the future. No one leaves home anymore. They live online. Socialize online, go to school online, work from home. This all happend after school shootings got worse and worse and schools were finally completly shut and moved online after several elementary schools were bombed by some fanatics. Hearing about shootings in schools always reminds me of this story and the totalitarian system this online-world becomes. Every time it seems more likely.

Fencing, cctv, remote controllable access doors and exit doors. Redesign the school, put on sensors at entrance. Most school already have most of that but what's wrong with the Parkland school? Then teacher-student & student-student relationships. 25 School shootings a year. That's what I googled just now. School shootings aren't actually "more frequent" and America ranks 11th in the number of mass shootings in the world, three quarters of which are suicides; also, automatic rifles are very rarely used in mass shootings, most of which are committed with handguns and most murders, by and large, are committed with knives (most murders are committed by Blacks); finally, according to the FBI, firearms save more lives per year than they take; anyway, the Parkland movement is dead and gone and the 2nd Amendement isn't being repealed any time soon. BTW, I'm a Mexican and I wish we had a 2nd Amendment here in Mexico, most guns are banned and it really isn't going very well.

The actual principal of giving teachers guns, isn't to so they can shoot back (although they will be able to) but to act as a deterrent. Your less like to go on a killing spree where there are people who can shoot back. I mean look at the places where most mass shooting occur, areas where no guns our allowed.
