I always look into the fenders when opening the door, look into cowl (request to remove the plastic and get in there.), Look under where the fender meets door pillar, Look are frame rail front and rear as well as surface rot around the Damn cowl to firewall pinch weld.
Back in the 60’s we would say Mustang/Rustang. Always has been an issue, especially in Canada. As far as over your head? You’ve already stripped more than most, so I say continue!! You’re going to do it right! It will be a labour of love/hate and bleeding, but you have your final vision it’ll be phenomenal and you’ll love it! Keep up the great informative videos 👍👍 I might even know someone who you can show ppl how to do a brake upgrade 😏 ( as if you’re not busy enough! ) lol
I think you got this! It's a job for sure and more than I'd want to tackle based on my ability, but you've got a good grip on what you need to do and you're already making progress. Saving a T top and ending up with your dream ride will be worth the effort. Good content too as we are getting to see a shell turned into a whole car again. I'm enjoying it, so keep it up! As far as rust as a topic, everyone dwells on floors and strut towers. Can't say I've heard too much about some of these hidden places you are discussing. Good info for sure.
great video. I knew about that kind of rust but its less known than the shock towers. definitely not something you see unless you take the car apart usually.
Oh yeah you can handle that little bit of rust , don't let it scare you or get overwhelmed, that car is a very good candidate to get fixed up and most of that stuff u can just make patch panels instead of replacing the whole entire panel and it will be just as good and cheaper and faster to get it up and going. Your welds looks goodly toolset to blue a newbie . Can't wait to see more and drink a 6 pack for me 🤣
I just bought a 91 GT convertible Barrie Ontario area with 121000km’s. everything runs great except the bottom of the car looks like it was sitting in field for years. So rusty underneath. It’s a shame. I would like to figure out if it’s worth saving. Learned my lesson buying a car at an online auction. Lol.
I have that door pillar rust by my top door hinge in the driver side of my fox. I think I should be able to get away with a simular Job you did there. How many hours work would you guess you are into it on that spot, and that above area?
@@simcoecountygearheads thanks for the reply. And only 5-6 hours that's not bad. And yes, was very unfortunate to find this rust on my car. Was suppose to be a show car. Just painted it, shave bay, new motor, trans, holley EFI, wilwood brakes. Now i found this rust bubbling up from the paint on door post 1 year later. This car is a never ending money pit..
If you're going to stick with using flux core wire get Lincoln's shielded wire you'll be happy with it I guess I should have waited till the end the video before mentioning Lincoln wire apparently we think alike
