This wing was built in 1984. It has survived many ground accidents, many hrs of ruff field, high speed taxiing, and at least 4 major takeoff or Landing accidents; one that nearly destroyed the plane. (Never more than a scratch to the pilots). This wing could have been repaired, but I opted to rebuild.

It’s very Barnes Wallace! Looks like a lot of work to build but stronger than the sum of its parts. 👍🏻

This type of construction is easy to repair. Start by sawing say, 100 ft of strip. Either bridge the cracks with short strips and glue or replace an entire strip. But watch the wing warpage when doing that. Wood constructions have the ability to become very old and still stay sound. Think of a Stradivarius, for instance.

Wouldn't trust any wood spar wing

Most of your aerobatic planes and racers use a wooden spar and some a complete wooden wing.

It's what many of the Reno racers and aerobatic planes use... even if the rest of the plane is aluminum or chromoly.
