I thought to myself, “I remember there was something important about powering on the vtx but I can’t remember exactly what. Let’s go back to the videos before I make a mistake”. 😅 I was good. Wow Im a professional illustrator/designer but I'm always trying to expand understanding into other disciplines...today I was teaching myself FPV, PAL, NTSC...and this video REALLY gave me a leap in understanding antenna transmission, communication discipline. Thank you!

This reminds me of the crystals used in 72mhz Radios before 2.4gHz and channel hopping. Like, two years from now, we might be able to bind our goggles to our transmitters and fly 100+ models in the same space...

At 1:49, Josh connected the plugs the other way around. Black to Yellow, instead of yellow to yellow. It's very important to pay close attention when connecting wires together or things could blow up.

A primer series on connectors, up close and personal, is what I'm lookin for.

Great advice! Esp. for those of us that can spend a lot of time analyzing by ourselves, better to go out and find what other locals are using.

note to uk fpv people, our ham rules specifically state that the licence does not cover use in rc, our rules are different to the usa licence

A good tip for beginners!! Horizon hobby had a great All In One FPV kit! It comes with everything you need to get started and they work great, I would recommend! ( it might be cheaper to buy their goggles and camera/trans separately)

Im quite new to the fpv drone community. right now Im starting with a cheap $20 dollar micro drone the size of my palm, no cameras yet. yet, my first mod today is I swapped the battery from 220mah to 700mah.

What do you mean by not turning them into the light? so do you mean dont point your camera to into the sun or dont let the sun shine inside on to the screens? i appreciate all of the knowledge I have gained from your videos. thanks

You guys showed this huge pelican case thing a while back in another video - it looked like a suitcase-groundstation. Can I get the specs for that? I find that my tripod-based groundstation doesn't travel well and i really like the idea of a giant monitor in a pelican case with some lipos would just be amazing.

Well I just bought a FlySky 6 channel transmitter hopefully it will have elevon mixing plus it's also compatible with the receivers I already have.

Is there an easy way to switch channels on an fpv setup? I want to use FPV on my drone, but also use an FPV camera right on the headset. That way, I can quickly and easily look do a line of sight check or actual FPV.

Glad you guys released a roughly current video; I've always been into model aviation and have been courting the FPV idea since before it was technologically viable, but I've been fairly uninvolved the last few years (flying real ones instead) I'm not totally clear on how the bans worked out. Everyone seems fairly optimistic, which is encouraging, but as I understood goggle based FPV was blanket banned in the states. Was that not ultimately the case? I'd certainly rather fly that way. You see the all in one camera you have? Well i wired that stright in to the battery of my bugs 3 drone. The signal comes through crystal clear for 1 second and the BAM it cuts out. The camera is very warm and still on but seems like it's not transmitting a signal... Am I doing somthing wrong?

Great video guys! I am a newbie and just purchased a walkera rodeo 110. Not an expensive quad but I would like to get some nice goggles for any future endeavors. From what I gathered, I should stick to a brand and use the mushroom antennas? So I would need to up grade my antenna on the 110? Sorry for so many questions! Thanks again.

What did he mean when he said powering up the transmitter without an antenna connected would "blow it up"? Obviously nothing is going to "blow up" but did he mean it would destroy the transmitter or cause it damage?

Flying alone is AMAZING! No one to tell you that you are flying too high, flying too low, flying the wrong way or holding their hand out for money! Same goes for cars, boats and pretty much any RC adventure! Unless you are RCSparks on RU-vidGOLD!

Is there any kind of way you could do a list of stuff for a super cheap setup? I myself am into RC cars and I’d like to throw together a dirt cheap setup to see if I’d like to get into fpv on a car or two.

Hi Josh, with reference to the 25mW all-in-one camera/transmitter, I will need a 5V UBEC to run it off a 3S LiPo right? Is there any way to connect a OSD to these all-in-one setups?

If you're flying far that you can't see your aircraft, do you have any problems with FAA? They're saying that you have to see your aircraft.

Hey Flight Test Happy New Year 2021 I hope you guys make an updated fpv episode and show how it connects into a RC plane. Going through it all, I understand how it works but cause we don't have a hobby shop local. I have no idea how it actually connects or what connectors I would need to buy. As everything is online! I don't want to have to buy things just to solder and change around wires. Buying this circuit board or that guessing as I go cause store pages just show parts not what goes with it. The industry is getting better but there is still a lot of guess work in making your own craft.

Can those 25 milliwatt cameras connect to any fpv monitor/goggles or do they need special ones?

So if I buy a Eachine TX03 with up to 200mw and 72 channels but only stay at 25mw and between 5.725-5.875 it’s still illegal because it’s not a FCC part 15 certified transmitter. However if I get my Ham license then I can use the higher power and different channels. Correct?

I am a novice at FPV. can you tell me if the spectrum va 1100 micro fpv camera with built in trans would work off a syma x5c battery. camera calls for a 4.2 280ma battery. I think it is a 1s but does not specify. not really sure what the difference between 1s and 2s except more power. would it be safe to use a 2s that has the close specs needed to run the camera ? they advertise to plug it in to any battery powering your quad.

Can ypu recomend a camera goggle set? I dont quite get FPV so I want a setup with minimal fluff

I've just got into the idea of building and flying a fpv quadcopter. I'm very new to this, and it seems like the knowledge needed to do this is very specific depending on what you intend to get out of your drone. One of my main concerns is buying the wrong parts for the job, or paying too much/ too little for them. I've been looking at a fat shark teleporter v5 goggle bundle. They include an fpv camera with receiver. But this particular receiver is fcc certified. I understand that this means it's legal to use without a licence, but I've also heard bad things about the performance of fcc receivers. Would I be better off to just get a fcc receiver for my baby steps into this hobby, or should I just go for a licence or more reliable alternative? Thanks.

Is it me or did they plug black to yellow on those Futaba connectors?

I want to make the fpv video show up better on the transmitter screen and I was wondering if simply putting a cloverleaf antenna on the transmitter would help the video quality and maybe the range slightly? Or would I need to put a cloverleaf on both the quad and transmitter? What other little modification could I do to help it out?

At 1:50 the "plug and play" was done backwards, video and power wires crossed.

Don’t forget that in the USA you need an Amateur (Ham) Radio license to use FPV video transmitters that transmit with (as I recall) over 10mw on 2.4Ghz and over 25mw on 5.8Ghz. Typical FPV gear operates on Amateur Radio frequencies. I suspect that your local police could confiscate your equipment and report you to the FCC if they find you doing FPV without a license. It’s illegal to interfere with licensed radio services.
