Sure thing! I'm having fun with Ardupilot myself. Lots of different modes you can switch back and forth to/from for whatever type of flight/mission you want
Holy smokes I go away for little over a year and your channel picks up another 6000 subs. Really like the arducopter content I've been using it for fixed wing for a bit you've done a great job of explaining as usual. Ruby S.

Currently learning how to build UAS's and thought that Lidar was something that required thousands of dollars to have on a drone, this has made my day! Now to learn Ardupilot.
This is niicce!! I have been into arduino uno and shields for years and i remember about 10 years ago when mk1 arducopter was first built, i was flyin helis, so you dont have to have ardupilot main imu , you can use matek flight controllers to use ardupilot software? love flying my diatone roma F5 v2 , no barometer though, can i connect a barometer to the i2c uart and get loiter, position hold? Thankyou
What would happen to the error in measurement of altitude when the drone is pitching forward or basically moving in a direction? (Considering a scenario where it is moving fast and has a big pitch forward angle)
Does lidar range finding have the pinpoint accuracy of laser range finding? Could I point the lidar range finder at specific objects to find the distance to them?
Hi TMac: I received my TF-Luna yesterday, I watched your Vid and followed along step by step, and after the installing on the Quad, nothing works, I get Error MSG BAD LIDAR HEALTH on MP HUD Screen
Is it possible to use this lidar for position hold, mounted in the front of the quad. And use it to hold position using a wall, example inside a tank? Without gps.
the accurate ranging capability of the LIDAR is based on reflectivity of its transmitted/emitted light wave. As an example, if its bouncing off a highly reflective (such as white colored) object, it's accurate range will be more than if it was bouncing (reflected) off darker colored objects. Theoretically, any light at the same wavelength received by the LIDAR rangefinder of significant strength to interfere with its own reflected/received signal will diminish the LIDARs range/accuracy. To date, I have not had any issue with this happening during outdoor flight (I do not fly indoors)
Tmac is right. I've been flying INAV with Matek's opflow/lidar and about to switch to Arducopter. Outside with INAV is no problem, but I've been flying indoors with it as well. As long as you have a downward facing LED for low light it seems to work. Sometimes carpet can be a problem, but other set ups do too. For example you, if you try a Mavic or Mavic Mini you will have the same "drift" as the INAV build on certain surfaces. Just my observations.
@@TMacFPV Unfortunately I bought same "Matek Optical & Lidar Sensor", and after doing all setup correctly I am not able to get values of OF.flowX, OF.bodyX and IMU.GyrX in synch, so its really of no use for me
@MrNams I understand. I too purchased that Lidar & Optical Flow device and didn't find much use for it. That's why ai went with the TF Luna in this video. Much easier to setup (as shown in video) and has worked perfectly for me with 8 meter max range!💪
