Basically Copying this system , designed it in my head & then stumbled across this video - cheers for doing the hardwork

If you mount your 360 radiator with the plugs at the bottom, it align correctly with the holes in the case.

really enjoyed this build, different from a lot of others I've seen. Plus your calm demeanor is very welcome vs. a lot of the more shouty people on youtube!

Nice build. I'm almost building a similar system. I just decided to use EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 240 DDC PWM D-RGB - Plexi below the graphiccard horisontal mounted 🙂

Hi, I'm pretty new to this stuff and really appreciated this video since I have a Fractal North too. When you say the radiator is "facing inward" and the fans are "facing outwards", what does that mean?

Currently toying with grabbing the XL version for a water cooled build. 7800x3D and a 4090 with the EK blocks.
@haurjie
@haurjie 3 месяца назад
I'm currently working on the XL review (yes I'm late to that), and I'm going to be doing full loop in it as well in the video ;)

What is the cost-benefit of air vs AIO vs custom liquid cooling? Can any of those be used in tandem? If so, what is the cost-benefit of that hybrid cooling setup, too? I'm considering the North but I'm not sure about fitment of a 4090 Founders Edition, and which cooling option would be best overall (regardless of cost).

Would love to see a build with the Corsair Hydro X series water cooling components on this case.😊😊

Oh yeah when I was building in this case, I was actually debating hydrox or EK, i ended up going EK because i already had the waterblock for the GPU, hydrox i would've had to purchase a little bit more which was beyond my budget at the time. but yeah i could certain consider doing that if i revisit this case again or if enough people ask for it :)

How many case fans did you end up using?

Love this build. I would want to build in a case like this if it were to have a mini itx size. Not necessarily a sandwich style like my Lian Li Dan A4 H20 but more like the Torrent Nano. Since mini itx has always been more of my speed. That said, not sure if water cooling will be a good fit for me since my intention is to start switching to NVIDIA's 60s series of cards (currently have an RTX 3070 ti) and plan to use Core i5 cpus. Custom cooling in my case doesn't yield as much benefit for me. Still, I would love to one day do a custom loop even if I never have a need for it.

Watercooling is the "best" cooling you can get if we were to just look at straight temperatures alone. But cost and maintenance is a diminishing return. But people who do it pay for the art and joy of it rather than seeking the performance. The performance just happens to be a side effect of giving the best temps is all. But yeah, if Fractal comes out with a mini North, I'd love to see it and I would absolutely do content on it.

Does the radiator make a perfect seal with the mounting bracket? I can foresee this case being less-than-ideal for water-cooling because of the gap. I use Noctua's fan gaskets on my current build to minimize leakage and that just doesn't seem possible here.
@haurjie
@haurjie 3 месяца назад
I think it depends on the radiator you use, but even then, I don't think any radiator will make a "perfect" seal with any bracket. It's very minimal.

I just picked this case up and this is my first ever PC build. Would you say that radiators are necessary and should I swap out the stock fans? I also bought an i7 13700k. I was looking to do an air cooling build and pick up a cool master MA824. My gpu is nothing special, a friend of mine is giving me his 3060 for next to nothing but I fully intend to upgrade to a 4090 some time next year. Great video. Thank you.

Awesome thanks for watching and giving me the details of your build plans. Radiators are not necessary for this build. In fact, I think the North case was originally designed for air-cooling focused builds and I think if this is your first PC build, definitely start with a nice air cooler first.

When you have custom cables made, how do you determine the length of each cable?

Would an EK surface S series rad fit in the front here or do you reckon it would have similar clearance issues?
@haurjie
@haurjie 3 месяца назад
Good question, I don't have the North anymore to test, but I want to say the slim EK radiators should be able to fit.

Heh, I'm designing 14900k + 4080 system, with 420mm cooling it's gonna be too big for Fractal North, but seeing your very stylish build I'm having second thoughts, like maybe a bit less powerful machine just so I could also get North & build something similar...
@Noah-Lach
@Noah-Lach 3 месяца назад
You could always try the new Fractal North XL! I have an Evolv X with a 420mm front rad (280mm top) and I bet the 360 in the North would perform similarly because it has significantly better airflow.
@donfrankie
@donfrankie 8 месяцев назад
Could you but 240 mm radiator in the top too?
@haurjie
@haurjie 8 месяцев назад
Yes, but then it would take up space for the rear panel where the pump/res would be and I would have to relocate that.
@andersmalmgren6528
@andersmalmgren6528 8 месяцев назад
I went external rad with mine. Well I went both, a internal 360 plus a 560 rad external
@haurjie
@haurjie 8 месяцев назад
What was the external setup you used? Like mounting QDC solution?
@andersmalmgren6528
@andersmalmgren6528 8 месяцев назад
@@haurjieSadly I cant link external images on youtube. But I used the radiator legs from alphacool. I have a sideboard next to my North and could hide the 560 radiator under there, You have to be really low to notice the radiator. I used CPC LQ4 fittings, works like a dream, not a single drop spilled.
