this is very beautiful and unique, I love any tuning with the B up to C but always get nervous about the string snapping. Do you keep one guitar in these kinds of tunings or constantly change tunings?
Thanks! I have a rotation of tunings I switch between constantly. All of my songs are scattered among 7 open tunings (for now). And since this is my only steel string guitar I don't have much choice. But I haven't broken a string in ages. I think for some tunings I actually tune at least a half step lower, especially when I play live.
@@tobiaswildenmusic interesting to hear, ive been working on a set of songs that start in standard, but a half step down, and then process into each successive song by tuning one or two strings different untill i end up in and open d variant or something close for the final songs (i could organize the set in reverse technically too). But i used to spend a lot of time in cgcgcd and miss the quality that tuning the b up does for tonal colors, but being in #c#g#c#f#g#c by the end of my set means i could technically just put some final songs in with the raised b string, but c# on the b makes me nervous.. do you still go there while lowered half a step?
Absolutely wonderful I can’t fail to draw some sort of bizarre abstraction from your drive and focus from this piece from one to another I thank you sincerely for the inspiration
I hear some Drake in this, as others have said, but also Metheny. Is he an influence of yours? You also remind me of this former RU-vidr who posted this totally baffling reinterpretations of songs, Gihm.
Never listened to Pat Metheny before. I should check him out. One of my influences from way back is Kaki King, who might sound similar to Metheny. My music was always a bit disconnected from the Nick Drake influence, but I guess you never know what things find their way into the songs!
