Fragrance Ads Are So Weird 

I really liked this video, but it was a bit hard to follow because I don't know what an "advertisment" is. I tried to use context clues, but honestly I'm just confused!

i cannot express how much of a manic, unhinged madman you came across as in the first seven seconds of this video. just wandering around the frame looking entirely lost with your hands in the air before devolving into the most crazed laugh i have ever heard. threw me into another dimension

You're just jealous that you don't smell as good as Adam Driver's iconic "Centaur Mode"

It occurs to me that i haven't bought a magazine in so long, do they still have the perfume ads with the little peel aways to test the scent. Those were such a vibe when i was a preteen reading teen vouge.

When I think of silly perfume ads, I immediately think of this old commercial for Chanel No. 5 with Nicole Kidman where she is hanging out on a rooftop with some guy she just met and at some point she shouts, "I love to dance!" and she's just acting so weird and cheesy. I think it came out around the time that Moulin Rouge was really big, so they were trying to tap into that whole vibe. Another one from ~my youth~ was for Dior starring Charlize Theron and she's marching down this fancy hallway really aggressively and saying weird dramatic stuff while taking off her jewelry and throwing it on the floor like she hates it. Every time that commercial came on TV I'd be like, "why is this beautiful woman so pissed off? how is this related to perfume?"

The thing is perfume ads are only meant to convey "a vibe". Fresh, flowery scents will usually have a young woman in a light flowy dress and lots of fake laughter, warm scents are sexy (ie someone's naked), and men's perfumes have to feature animals for some reason🤷‍♀️

"If you wanna fuck, wear this perfume," sums up my early tv ad-watching experience, where perfumes were being advertised as alluring, enticing, sensual; the ads obviously featured an uncomfortable amount of fake-scenting, usually ending with a guy seductively unbuttoning a woman's clothing, and it's the raunchiest most awkward thing to watch on your family TV at that age.

Absolutely cracked up multiple times watching this. Adam Driver on a bike absolutely fucked me over, as did the 152$ carafe. I literally thought about how weird these ads can get (just like car ads) a few days ago, and I love seeing you cover it ❤️

Fragrance ads cause me an unnecessary amount of rage with their absurdity. And for what? Liquid with a smell that you can put on your body without chemical harm.

i got a perfume ad on this. an entirely incomprehensible ad too. and then a dune ad.

I cannot stress enough how much I hate the Natalie Portman ad 😂 I cannot explain it, but I’ve had to sit through it so many times that when I hear that music and her say “wake up”, I immediately enter this state of barely concealed rage, I’m so sorry Natalie.

I have never thought to myself 'wow I wish I smelled more like a horse, especially one that's been running' so why would you highlight that animal in your ad...

The Coty Wild Musk commercial looks like it had to have been made in the 70s. I looked it up and was very surprised to see it came out in the mid 80s. I'm guessing the commercial's budget was spent on cocaine and fedoras.

I have to say Born in Roma is the only perfume I’ve liked and I don’t know the commercial. I just smelled it and liked it. I will defend that Adam Driver is an oak tree and this smells like the forest.
