I own ten bottles for a year now, and have decants of the rest (total ~23). I can say that these age incredibly well! They gain intensity, longevity and a richness of color, as they settle and age. People like to say there must have been changes to the formula, but having them from different time periods, I can say it’s just the aging process. Like a fine wine. Great review Yana 🙌🏻
@@GretaBeth I would love to hear your thoughts on cannabis blue. It was an impulsive buy but I like cannabis intense more, the intense smells less than the blue.
I have thought that as well. Thanks for your critical thinking I agree. So many people knee jerk reply (on fragrantica) awww reformulated the older is light years better than the new one"...when I read something like that, I don't give that reviewer any credence. No thought snap judgment and hyperbole without thinking what could be the case is too easy to do.
I think your review is spot on. I have smelled all of these and I own Oud Vert Intense which I use for office wear and love it. I am not a fan of Santal Complet or Oud Jaune Intense. Oud Blue Intense is on my to buy list. I also own New York Intense and look forward to wearing that when it gets cooler
I have seen so many Fragrance Du Bois reviews. Your review is the best. I love your honesty. I don’t prefer this scent profile. To me, they’re too masculine.
I love how Oud Orange behave in cold weather, when north wind cleans the air. Oud Bleu is one of my fav too. For summery feeling Oud Jaune is Intoxicating, but have to be in a mood i admit. Santal Complet is one i prefer in colder months, countryside, you can see the stars, everything is peacefull. Forgot New York 5th Avenue Intense, like softer version with a pinch of caramel of MFKs Oud Satin Mood. Have to try Oud Noir.
Nice video! I agree with virtually everything you said. I have Oud Noir, Vert, Bleu, and Orange as well as Milano and Santal Complete. I love them all but Oud Noir is just so amazing - it starts off kind of like sour liquorice on my skin and then evolves into this mysterious and seductive but still soapy clean scent - like James Bond in a tuxedo on a date with a Russian spy. I love Heritage as well, but it is a bit too feminine for me, so I think I might see what my wife thinks of it as a possible gift.
The description of Milano was spot on, to me too is a mix of Black saffron with Erba pura, but if I would have to pick a leather fragrance I'd go with Biblioteque, Tuscan leather or even Falcon leather. I've tried only eight fragrances from FDB and I must say I wasn't impressed with the performance. I did like the smell, especially of Oud violet, Oud bleu, Oud noir and London oud, but on my skin they didn't last more than 2-3 hours. After that, I could barely sniff them on my wrists. That is quite a pity since they are so expensive and I really wanted to buy one for the holidays, but I guess I'll get something else. Thank you for the video!
Siberian Rose is in the collection that does NOT have Oud. Their specialty is their Oud, as you pointed out. I’m not sure I would go for that collection first, especially given the price points. Def go for their ouds, which are Bar None! They didn’t steer you wrong 😉
I have a lot to learn from you about this house, you have so many! Their oud dominant ones definitely stood out to me, they do an exceptional job with this note and you're 100% right that if you're going to pick just one to go for one of their ouds since it is their specialty. Siberian Rose just peaked my interest because it has been pretty hyped lately 🙈
Omg thank god I actually ordered a decant of Milano today in the hopes that it would smell like a leathery version of Erba pura 🙏🏼 and you’ve just confirmed my suspicion haha
Great review! I also enjoy wearing Oud Bleu Intense. Oud Noir Intense is another fragrance I love to wear year round. Thank you for your honest thoughts on Fragrance du Bois.
Santal Complet wouldn’t last on me. I had to re-spray three or four times and went through a 2 ml decant in one day. The scent had some strange scratchy feel; not bad, just strange.
Great review, I am so surprised to find someone with the same taste as me. I usually hate aromatic, spicy notes and thought I would like the popular scents like Oud, Juan, Rose, Orange, Siberian Rose. Suprisingly Oud Orange made me want to heave it's horrible, but my favourite's were Oud Bleu Intense - Incredible!!!! I couldn't stop smelling my arm and Oud Vert!
I have Julianna’s Oud Orange Imperiale and LOVE it. I’d probably like Oud Orange Intense, but wow is it spendy. Julianna’s is one of my favs, so I may stick with it. ☺️
I am really really happy you did this review. I am eyeing FdB for a while, not talking about the prices, which are ... a bit offensive to me 🤪. I have got the sample of Oud Jaune Intense from the Luckyscent, aaand... it took me months to like it. At first sniff it was a synthetic strawberry. Now I feel the depth of it and I like it. But it took me a half a year to like it 😎. I have noticed the Julianna's made a dupe of Oud Orange Intense, and apparently plan to do the dupes of Santal Complet and Oud Jaune Intense. Well, we will see. I definitely want to try this house. Maybe just to understand those prices (?). I know they grow their own agarwood trees, I understand. But still. P.S. I loved those intermezzos with "your man" - he has a pleasant voice, with your cat and dog. I would like to squash them 😍
The FdB prices are definitely up there, but they're a luxury brand so when people buy lux it's not only about the quality but also a "status" thing, and the satisfaction of having some precious item. I have smelled soooo many extremely expensive fragrances (aside from FdB) and am often so thrown off by the price point to quality/performance ratio. It's not always justified
@@TheScented True. I understand the psychology behind that. Perhaps you might make a video about luxury brands that you think are worth it (?) Adriana, 🇷🇺👋
Oud Bleu reminds me a bit of Meander or Enclave by Amouage (but 2x the price). 5th Avenue Intense is nice, and not as aggressively priced as the 'oud' ones.
Ha! At $400ish per bottle that hot rich guy can keep his fragrance. lol. Enjoy your reviews! Esp. as a fragrance newb, they help me decide where to spend money and where I can appreciate from afar. Thanks!
So interesting, usually you and I have very similar taste but I hated oud rose intense. I though it was so juvenile and smelled like artificial fruit punch reminiscent of ‘Juicy Juice’ as a kid. I wouldn’t like this on myself or on a guy. Similar to your thought on juane.
That’s a really good point. When they decant to, I always wonder about ‘settling’ in the blend, more maceration time (because with decants a greater surface area touched by air), ect. All companies manufacturing processes are subject to some inconsistencies, especially small batch operations. Also there have to be differences in raw materials, not every flora fauna is exactly the same every season. Just like wine…
Would you wear any of these masculine scents? do people ever think you smell like aftershave? sorry for the bluntness but i am really interested in trying these but i dont want to smell like a man
Lol no worries! Nobody ever thinks I smell like aftershave because those are not the type of masculine scents I wear 😊 a lot of niche masculine scents smell really unique and there are a select few designer men's fragrances that I reach for
which would you request for me? i am kind of picky i dont like sharp ambers i also dont like vintage perfumey white florals i didnt really care for my new ylang ylang i do like coconut i have delina i also like vanilla i dont like powdery medicinal like baccarat rouge yuck some sound good
Fragrances really are subjective. Candy from oud jaune, wow. I get mostly tropical florals and slight coconut. I find oud orange to be alot more sweet and candy. Was my least as I dont care for sweet candy Fragrances.
I dont like Fragrance du Bois, too much oud, and NOTHING INTERSTING in this house for me! (And this marketing is too pushy as well, not sympatic) But thank you for your review, it must be a great house, just not for me.🤷🏼♀️😘
