You should seriously look into building with light gauge steel tiny homes, it will completely change your life. You can create your own kit house and have it delivered. It costs about the same as wood framing, and the sheathing is the same price. The weight of the steel wall would be reduced by about 40% compared to wood. Monolithic foundation slab + light gauge steel is the perfect combination.

Before lifting the wall You should toe nail the baseplate on your line. It holds the bottom of the wall while lifting so it doesn't slide off the edge. When you're sheathing don't bother cutting the openings. Just go over top of them and router them out after.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or fun things I could build in the Cedar Hollow. So far I'm planning on a barrel sauna, hot tub, steam shower, huge deck, in deck hammock and a few other secret things ;).

Hey bro, looking good its all a learning experience, you can only get better and more confident. Not sure if you snapped lines for your floor layout before the walls but what we do before building the walls is we toe nail the bottom plate to the floor so it doesn't slide out when lifting it. Looking forward to the finish project Devon keep up the good work.

Pro tip, be a stud and always use 2 jack studs minimum, putting a header on just 1 jack stud on each side isn’t very strong. I suggest always going an extra pair more than required by code. It really doesn’t add much to the build cost and you have a beefy build.

Well as a carpenter, you had me freaked out. I'm glad it all worked out for sure. I have never seen a single 2x4 wall jack in my life and those things flexing just past mid lift were super sketchy. A post jack with a spindel connection at the floor dramatically improves the safety. You won't see that from me, I build solo, but in sections I can lift. I just don't like the heavy lifts anymore solo.

Really enjoyed watching these videos... impressive skill and energy to build these while documenting the whole thing at the same time. I don't usually comment, but one thing I've noticed in the last few videos. You refer to the 'Cedar Hallow'... and I have a sneaking suspicion you're actually referencing the word 'Hollow'. A hollow is "a low, wooded area, such as a copse"... while the word hallow mean " is to make holy or honor greatly". I would usually mind my own business, but considering the time and effort you put into this build, I thought I'd mention it in case you'd accidentally used the wrong spelling.

@@devonloerop you seem like you understand video production pretty well, but i'd highly recommend just using "position/scale/rotation" instead of "subspace warp" as the stabilization method, and check "preserve scale" so it doesn't take scale into consideration (i.e. the drone is not moving toward/away from the subject much at all). it mostly avoids that crazy warpy warbling footage. hopefully this helps any future drone timelapses!
