Please Note: The configuration of hardware is different for different size frames. Smaller frames may only require 3 screws with one d-ring, while larger frames as demonstrated require 6 screws with two d-rings,

Do you have a video tutorial on applying mosaic tile or glass tiles to a concrete bench purchased from a big box retailer?

We do not at this writing have a video about using a pre-formed concrete as substrate, but you CERTAINLY CAN. In my exterior workshops I discuss this at length, these forms can be really terrific. Assuming for outside make sure you use exterior rated thin-set.. In my book "Guide to Mosaic Technique" I outline process www.maverickmosaics.com/book/. You may consider one of the indirect methods (mesh, face tape or reverse) so you can build flat in your studio and then "install." We do have a video about "mesh method" which is worth taking look at. Also have a video about testing materials for freeze/thaw, another good one to take a look at. Hi Kim - I watched and took notes on this video and have purchased 3 of these frames. My plan is to make house number mosaics (3) to attach in front my me and my 2 neighbors mailboxes. I also bought 3 french cleats for attaching. My question is, after doing the mosaic and then during the grouting, do you have any tips for making it a nice clean finish? It seems like grouting within a frame could lead to messy finish, especially if your an amateur like me! 😞 Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

These frames look really nice, and I'd like to give them a try. However, I am confused by how you attach the D-rings. It looks in the video that you are screwing them into the wedi board, with no washers or not on the other side. I don't understand how this will keep it from pulling out of the wedi board once the piece is hanging on a wall. What am I not understanding? Thanks.

All of the screws, including the ones that hold the d-rings, are threading into the t-nuts, not the backerboard. Even if by some chance the t-nut pulled through the backerboard, it could not pull through the metal frame. Most mosaics weigh about 3.5 pounds per sq ft. These are built for all of that weight and more.
