More double-meanings: the harpsichord's clattering hammers imitate a battery of busily-ticking clocks. The Maillot family referred to in the second half of the title were spectacular rope dancers at the fair. Can it be both?
The magnificent instrument is a Taskin copy by famed harpsichord builder David Rubio.

The harpsichord doesn't have hammers. It plucks the strings.

Unfortunately, this harpsichord sounds as if it plucks with barbed wire.

Late reply, I know - but it needs to be said that the "maillotins" allude to the inner workings of a mechanical timepiece, which was the inspiration for this piece. Hence its alternate name "Le tic-toc-choc" :)

Weir on the harpsichord! Nice playing, although the instrument leaves a bit to be desired IMO.

Not sure what kind of Landowskian instruments y'all are used to, but this sounds like a perfectly acceptable character for a harpsichord to have, and it suits this piece very well imo
