Couperin hace del clavecín un verdadero lujo tímbrico, descriptivo e imaginativo merece el calificativo de " el grande" que se le suele asociar. Buena versión.

Thank you for posting this piece! It helped me to prepare it for a program I played at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Cheyenne, WY in 2021. It's hair-raising! This piece was one of Mildred Andrews favorites, too. She was Professor of Organ at the University of Oklahoma. My biography on her life was recently published with Wayne Leupold Editions 🎶

Of course, Liszt's grandfather Georg was a church organist and teacher. Unfortunately, as with Liszt's father, Adam, it was impossible to make a substantial income. Georg managed farms until he was sacked for borrowing the farm cart to go to his 3rd wedding. Adam was an excellent cellist and possibly a very good pianist- Liszt's teacher, who often performed for Haydn and possibly Beethoven. Perhaps its this history that persuaded liszt to democratise classic music. Transcriptions to bring classics to open concert halls rather than private palaces. It made him a pop celebrity and millionaire.

Utterly ruined by the poor dynamics of the recording! I know this recording and it's not how it sounds originally. If it wasn't bad enough having constant interruptions from the philistines at U tube advertising rubbish.

It's funny that Liszt this piece composed for Pedal piano.

I played this on my senior organ recital in April, 1970, at Grace Lutheran Church, River Forest, IL. My professor thought it was the first time it had been heard in metro Chicago. Its fun to play 😇🎺 🎹🎹🎹🎵🎶

I was utterly convinced when I first heard this on Radio 3 in the 1970s when GW was in her 30s. Had no idea who GW was or even who wrote this astonishing virtuoso organ music. Will go to my grave in awe.

I can't believe Ms Weir even sat at the console of this collection of dull sounding tin and wood. I have children's electronics toys with better tonal quality than this monstrosity.

Viel zu schnell!!! Vor allem die Fuge war eine einzige lärmende Raserey. Und das Adagio? Da war kein Adagio. Grauenvolle Interpretation…

It feels too fast to me. It sounds best played a little more slowly in a big cathedral, for which this Romantic piece was probably composed.

Not sure what kind of Landowskian instruments y'all are used to, but this sounds like a perfectly acceptable character for a harpsichord to have, and it suits this piece very well imo

If God's wrath and judgement resembles a little what happens here, I'd better make sure I obey all God's commands and love Him with all my heart. Accept Jesus who died for me on the cross to receive forgiveness for all my sins. There is no escape from God's judgement. It comes in speed and power. The only save place.... Is God Himself. Great psalm no. 94...! Great composition of Leubke. Great playing Gillian!

Best interpretation I've ever heard. Dupre2 is visceral and not a particularly warm piece. It's rather stark, highly virtuosic to the point of being slightly obnoxious. It's a bloody great piece and if Stravinsky had written it it'd be really famous. Anyway, Dame Gillian takes on this organ, this repertoire and it's stunning and the best of the best of the best.

Why are the dotted quarter/eighth rhythms played as triplets?? Surely wasn't the intention, but it is coming across that way. Too bad.

I feel as if the ending is played too fast, I know it's long, but I believe personally that the ending should be played slowly to make it majestic and an epic conclusion.
