I had amazing luck with a pattern just like this but with a cdc collar just the other day. Thanks for all the videos ❤️

Love the tubing idea for the body, I'll have to try that for some additions to my euro box. Thanks Tim!

Thanks Tim! Someone asked me to tie them a bunch of these. I can see having a box full of all different colors being a "good" thing!

I had some medium vinyl rib on hand so I used that. I think it turned out pretty good. Not as smooth as your version, little more bumpy. I'll see if it'll hunt this weekend!

Nice tie! What color stretch tubing did you use for the “Frenchie” version?

Amber on the Frenchie, brown for a slightly darker body.

Do you need to have a slotted bead for this or will a regular bead work too?
@tightlinevideo
@tightlinevideo 3 года назад
If you are using a jig hook with a bend in the shank the answer is yes. A regular bead will not sit correctly against the back of the hook eye. That said, I've tied and fished this pattern a lot using a standard nymph hook with a regular bead and done very well with it. The jig hook and slotted bead really just help to make the fly ride more "hook point up" which generally means less snags and lost flies on the bottom.

What's the biggest size these can be made and still fish effectively?

3.2mm is as big as I would go, but tie 'em up and try' em. It is the only way to really know.

I have tried them as large as size 14 but there are numerous other patterns in larger sizes that I like better. As I said in the video, I think size 18 is just about perfect for this pattern.
