France: When French politicians speak English! 

You should check out Nick Clegg, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats and ex deputy Prime Minister of the UK; he is fluent in both Dutch and Spanish.

The thing is.. that they don’t have to. English is the most important language in the world. Leaders in English-speaking countries don’t have to submit.. everyone else does. Sad truth.

Even Jeremy Corbyn is fluent in Spanish.

Man, when your the leader of our country, you should be bilingual in the first world language. And english is easy, this video is a shame for us. I speak a better english than my english teacher back then.

English is the most important language in the world for business, diplomacy, education, etc. Everybody learns English anyway I just see it as that those who speak English natively just got lucky in that they don’t have to go through the hassle of learning another language

Well, I am not one of them. In fact, I love the French accent, and the cuteness that it produce when you guys speak English. I have a friend who is from west Africa, and she has a beautiful accent in English, and she speaks French.

They refuse to speak English for the most part, which is why we refuse to speak French, always hated us the French, secretly though they know that we’re French as well which is probably why they hate us lol. No one is native to the British Isles lol. You put us there now deal with the consequence of it 😂

I'm a bilingual French, what I hate about them is that they don't even try to do the english accent, they keep the french intonation, French is spoken with the lips and almost no air comes out, English is spoken from the throat with a lot of breathing; that's why we say House like ouse, the word "worry" is out of space for us, what's going on in your mouth when you say that

I never saw or heard Mitterand speak English. Chirac's English was not bad, enough to deal with superficialities but not more. De Gaulle could speak some English but refused or avoided doing so.

Why should any English speaking politician speak French ? Or German ? Or hindi (I'm indian) English is THE international language We need to accept that and learn it

Those anglophones who NEVER get to hear english spoken except when spoken with their accent, are the ones most likely to gripe about accent! In America, we even tease each other over regional accents, and find it difficult to understand even a native speaker, if they have a strong accent!

FYI “as a French” n’est pas correct, c’est “as a Frenchman / Frenchwoman / French person”, ou bien “being French myself”. “French” comme nom faisant référence aux Français n’est utilisable que collectivement : “the French” pour « les Français » (tous).

Because English is used all around the world, it’s in international songs and on TV and on products...where and why in the world would Obama be exposed to French? When would he even get to use it or practice it? Might as well ask Obama to learn Korean.

True, you may not hear it in the streets in passing the way you might other languages, but it is prevalent. Where I live, on a clear night in winter, one can pick up RDS toronto on am dial! For awhile i could pick up the sports station from Montreal as well( in French)

D'un part ça m'a rendu content car il veut dire que mes interlocuteurs croyaient que je me débrouillais en français mais d'autre part j'avais du mal à comprendre ce qu'ils me disaient. Je me suis mis à regarder des séries en français tous les jours qui a rendu le français à l' l'orale plus compréhensible pour moi.

Je peux le parle. Mais je suis un anglophone au Québec, donc mon accent est probablement un catastrophe pour l'oreille Française. Nos politiciens à l'echelle fédérale au Canada doivent parler français, et debattre contre un séparatiste qui ... n'est pas obligé d'être gentil. C'est stressant à regarder. 😅

If anyone wants to survive in the modern global world of politics and business and anything else you better learn English whether you like it or not cuz you will be left behind.... French actually is a useless language...only if you want to live in Quebec or France it's useful and I'm Canadian and no one wants to live in Quebec and trust me no one wants to live in France either... Both are horrible..

***** Perhaps in the tourist area, but I'm not experience it by my own, it's my mom, but I hope I can have a chance to visit France.

We learn english at school but our teachers are french and have the french accent, they focus more on grammar so we get quickly bored, when we do oral comprehension we listen to bad quality audios because our schools are either poor or our teachers again are old and don't understand new technologies so we use computer from the last century. Also, our parents sucks at english and have forgotten all languages lessons in general, so they can' t help us at english, so we use google translation To translate all our sentences because we have other school subjects to work for the following day and we finish school at 5pm so we don't have so much time To spend on a subject which is only coefficient 2 for the baccalauréat (final exam at high school) while math is 7 (or 9 for the people who love pain). So, yes it's funny to see the result and it's easy To say we're lazy at english, but keep in mind we are doing our best for a language that has dragged us to hell when we were kids and it is already a big improvement as comparison of the 90's. And how about you (not you personnaly but people in general thinking that way) trying To speak french so we can make fun of you a bit?
