Franchi Instinct SLX | 2020 Shotgun Showcase 

Personally I don’t like alloy receivers. Even though Beretta owns Franchi, I don’t think they are made as well. Nor are Gunsmith’s and parts as readily available as Beretta. If you hunting and occasionally shooting Clays games, then maybe the Franchi L or LX. But if you want a long term or easy to sell and step up, I would go with Beretta. You get what you pay for, and Franchi would be just fine for me for a hunting gun.

I have an Instinct SL, a Silver Pigeon, a Browning 725, a Browning 525, a Citori, a CZ Drake, Baikal IZ-27, and maybe a couple more the wife doesn't know about, oh and since I like to waterfowl, 6 various makes of autos as well. Going by your question, the Silver Pigeon, but, I don't worry about cost, the Pigeon will cost $200-$400 more, and it is far better built. I would rate the construction less than equal to the Baikal (which I paid something like $ 275.00 in the 90's). I have no problems tearing into actions, which I did on the Franchi SL to remove the "auto safety bar". It is OK, but not a Beretta or Browning. With that said, I would choose the Browning 525, why? It fits me like a glove! Go and look at every thing you can get your hands on.
