Francis Chan Sermon: Suffering 

Someone I admire recently said, "A good sign of maturity (in Christ) is when your sin bothers you more than your suffering."

I must confess that I struggled with this until I met suffering at a level I never imagined. Growing up an American Christian, I had the subtle belief that suffering was for other people. Sure, you might be ridiculed for wearing a Christian Tshirt, but my warped thinking was that only real bad people suffered or saints back in NT days.....and then in the span of two years, I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Primary Hypertension, and more...I lost the ability to work, to even being able to walk independently, and more....and I had to wrestle with the idea that maybe the Bible didn't say what I thought about suffering that I assumed it did...and even now as I deal with chronic pain that doesn't stop....I'm realizing that I could keep trying to blame this or that...or I could develop a faith that doesn't stop

I think I’m at the phase in my Christian life where I need to watch this 5 times to really get this mentality into my heart. I trust that it will be worth it

this sermon TOTALLY resonates with today’s generation. Really hope that every one that watches this sermon is convicted of breaking free from the chains of their sins of today’s secular world!

Not to steal anyone’s thunder…… but for 3 yrs.. ever since the Holy Spirit came upon me., REALLY came into me, compelled to follow Jesus 1000%.. I’ve suffered non stop. The very worst of the worst in my 60 yrs on this earth. No idea.. how Francis , who is my one and only go to, is saying this. Just so so overwhelmed.

Its tough. The betrayals and pain of it. The ups then downs. Its tough. We do grow though

He is our reward . Hallelujah thank you Jesus

Thank you pastor, you have giving me so much to think about. I love our Lord even if I don’t know how to show him all the time i'm trying, and i'm feeling sad when I fail to do so. I heard a lot of your different sermont, and I can say that the Holy Spirit is working hard in you and God is just doing an amazing work through you. I love you my dear brother in Christ, pray for me and my familly please. May our God keep you and your familly strong and courageous, and guide all of you in Jesus name. Amen.

We genuinely do NOT know how to suffer as a church in America. That’s why the second so many of us hit hard times, we leave the faith.

What touched me even more than the message from Francis, which is completely true by the way, is to see some devoted young guy following the Messiah no matter what it costs and taking the bible seriously, making no compromise. You are right, a lot of people do not want the truth. A lot of people want to feel good, they want to be blessed and prosperous but they do not want the cross and no cutting of the sword. Continue to go tge straight path and do not let discourage yourself! Be blessed.

This was a killer message literally 😂. This like the seed thrown on rock but then his sermon comes and you never go to church again lol I struggle with this too myself in all seriousness. It says it in the serenity prayer. "So we can be REASONABLY happy in this life and supremely happy forever in the next life with you lord"... its a hard pill to swallow but its for the greater good.

NKJV says: Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, The flesh is the old man, and yes our flesh is going to come across so many attacks and we will keep on suffering when our focus is set on the flesh... If our mindset is set on the Spirit within us and remembering that the attacks of the flesh is what Jesus went through... the hurt and pain will cease because of the understanding you have gained. I am a witness to this. To God be the glory!

(Col 1:24) Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am supplementing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions in behalf of His body, which is the church. We are continuing the suffering of Christ daily, through our own lives of constant struggle with the flesh, the world and the devil. And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. (Luke 9:23)

Exactly!. All glory to you Lord. Thank you for your blessings, mercy and grace in the midst of our suffering. Christ was denied, betrayed, ridiculed and suffered an agonising death, the prosperity megachurches seem to ignore that part.

John 17:20-26

I've been falsely accused over and over for the past two years. I've lost almost everything because of an unequally yoked spouse.. I've been through so much hell in the past two years but I've seen God carry me through different situations. Being in front of a judge, and facing accusations that you've never done will teach you so many things. This hell has brought out a different me.. it's built me up.. But I just ask that y'all pray for my next court situation..Please pray for me and my situation. God will know who you're praying for.

Where is his list of suffering. Mine started at 3 being molested by my parents brothers died 3 months apart one committed suicide. I have lots more to share. I thought we were to have an abundant life?

The Lord only wants you to know that you are a sinner, and in need of a savior. The Lord wants to save you, and then walk with you in this ungodly world so that you can bear fruit and be a witness of the Light. Jesus wants to fellowship with you here and right now he doesn't want you to be deceived by these false prophets. JESUS wants to help you overcome all the wickedness that comes against you in your thoughts, and your ungodly desires. Jesus wants you to know the truth about him so that you can be set free and forgiven of your sins. Jesus doesn't want you worshipping a false teaching of him. JESUS wants you to know him according to the scriptures. The bible says you will have tribulations and trials, and problems of the day, and they will hate you because they hated him first. The bible says don't let wicked people seduce you, or lead you away from him. The devil will go out to decieve the nations, hold fast to what Jesus done for you according to the scriptures. The devil wants you to use your Bible to look up verses about prosperity, but God wants you to look up the verses that teach about him and about being saved (born from above) born again.JESUS wants you to be secure in what He has done for you. Don't ignore the truth for gain that will wither away. The bible says in The New International Version 1 john 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. King James Bible For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. King James Bible He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. King James Bible Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? King James Bible And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Isaiah 43:10 “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Don't exchange the truth for 2 cents. What good is it that a man gain the whole world but loses his own soul. ARE YOU GOING TO BE THE WITNESSES HE CALLED YOU TO BE? SO THAT OTHERS CAN HEAR THE GOSPEL and be saved. Or are you just going to ignore the truth Act like it ain't important and go about your way. You can do that ,but on that day you will be reminded then it will be to late. Today is the day of salvation. Our God is a good God. The only sin that is unforgivable is unbelief . Unbelief gives birth to all sorts of sin. When you don't believe you put your will Before the will of God. How can you be forgiven if you don't believe in the SON OF GOD JESUS CHRIST. New International Version I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

The lifestyle for the Christian is never painted as one of suffering on a constant basis. The reason people suffer is because they’re ignorant of the truth of who they are in Christ, or the reject it. My life is full of joy, peace, love, laughter, hope. It’s because I put off the old and put on the new. No suffering whatsoever took place. Only healing. It is a flat out lie that conquering sin requires suffering. It is the goodness of God that leads a man to repentance: Romans 2:4. Much of this teaching is nothing but word salad and strengthens no one. Read Ephesians. This is your life. Set you affection on the light, power, strength above. You’ll be at peace and you won’t suffer.
