When Elio is playing the rendition of this music, this is the most erotic minute of this film. His watch marks time as the beatings of his heart ; Oliver arrives and a crescendo of notes springs from the piano like an excited heart. Then Elio stretches, relieved. He takes leave, forgetting his watch. His father gives it to him as if to remind him of the passing of time. Breathtaking !
