You are doing AMAZING! Remember Captain Jack fell asleep on one of those rocks! So don’t feel bad … we all get tired and sometimes we even give in to some rocky rest! Be careful with those slips and falls…. EASY DOES IT Stick the Eagle… We are all right there with you!

I would be extremely hesitant to consider anyone this close to completing an AT thru-hike as "weak".

You are doing great brother Stick!! Keep that positive spirit!! The Lord is with you! Try to eat more meat to fight off the fatigue. Remember that the Bible said Elijah went in the strength of the meat 40 days and 40 nights to Horeb the mount of God. More meat will give you the energy you will need. We are praying for you brother.

You are amazing Stick! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. We get to see the trail and beautiful views as you push onward, thru pain, joy, despair, and strong determination. Have you thought that Lyme might be causing your fatigue? Thank you Stick the Eagle!!!!

I doubt Lyme because I never had a tick on me for more than a few hours. But it is a common cause

When 5 stack finished he admitted he was about more worn down than he had admitted while on trail. It’s hard on your body. You’re not eating nutritious food. How you are feeling is normal. The biggest change I would suggest is lighter pack weight - lighter pack, sleep system, food bag instead of bear canister will work fine for the miles you have left. It will make a huge difference!

Wow! Franconia Ridge is beautiful!! Loved getting all the views and seeing Mt Washington with you. Liked the ones looking back as well and the Garfield perspective was nice, from on top of Lafayette when it looked small vs the climb itself. So glad you are now at camp and getting much more rest and balanced meals. If not for camp, I could see you pushing through and potentially doing serious damage to your feet or knees. Still amazed some people did these climbs in the snow! Glad you waited for a clear day, even despite the wind. Thanks, as always, for taking us along!

Woohoo…. 🎉 You did it! Franconia Ridge ✅ I noticed a significant improvement in your morale with each summit… 🤗 Sorry your knee is in pain. You may want to rest your hot meal on it as a heating pad (wrapped in a buff or bandana so it won’t burn you)while it rehydrates to alleviate some of the pain. Also, If the water source is cold at camp, soak your knee to help with inflammation. Embrace the Journey and Happy Trails Stick the Eagle 🥾

Once you got going, you made it up to Haystack pretty quickly, it seemed. Seeing the other hikers in a line heading up to Haystack reminded me of the pics you see from Mt Everest with everyone heading up in line. Of course, without the snow. Lol Are you just drinking water? Maybe you would benefit from electrolyte packettes or sports drinks. At least you'd get better hydrated and get some vitamins and minerals you need to. Maybe drink some caffeine too. Way to go and congrats on summiting all those mountains. 🎉🎉🎉🎉. That wind was crazy. I had to laugh when you were shouting and we couldn't hear a word😂. It seems a few hikers I follow have been exhausted lately. Rebound pointed out that it could be from the heat lately and weather changes. I'm praying that you get your energy back and that your knees and feet feel better. But if you feel that bad and tired maybe you need to rest for more than 1 day. We believe in you Stick, you should be very proud of yourself as we are very proud of you.❤ Remember to embrace the journey and happy trails ❤ ✌️🫶

Stick! I feel ya! Almost exactly one year ago today, my husband and I flew up to NH to do the Presidential Range. We were on a tight time line so we couldn’t wait on weather to clear. It basically rained almost the entire time….we will have to catch Webster Cliffs when we go back b/c the conditions were too dangerous. We did a hut to hut hike…and had zero…I mean ZERO views on Franconia. I think we still have PTSD from that week…..but like you said….at least now we know what to expect when we get back up there. Madison was the one that almost did me in!!!

Your body is telling you it needs more time to rest and recover. The exertion you’re putting into to climbing the whites is putting stress on tired muscles and causing damage. You’re tired. It’s hard. Rest. Ask any endurance athlete.

I'm wondering too - you mentioned you've lost 20 pounds, and you were very lean to begin with, so I wonder if some of that loss isn't muscle which may be having an impact? Still agreeing with the other comments on this being super physically challenging! You go this !!
@sticktheeagle
@sticktheeagle Месяц назад
My muscles definitely feel strangely weaker. Could be from losing some muscle weight.
