Yeh she past 50 now and her voice has not changed alot maybe it dropped an octave but still sounds childlike. I am pushing 50 my voice maybe has changed since childhood but i forget what my childhood voice sounded like lol.

Give her a break, people. She's like 16 years old in this. She is clearly nervous to have to make these interviews about them being a married couple on screen with a grown man at this point. He is 24. Imagine how it was for her having kissing scenes with a man so much older that her. She was basically a child here and while they were filming. And I feel for him too, it must have been terrifying for him too to act out those scenes with a child, basically.
I read in her book that she was horrified when she found out he would be playing her love interest, LOL! She was like, "that's not a boy, that's a MAN!!" She didn't think Almonzo would be so old or that "Manly" would be so manly, LOL! They should have cast Rob Lowe.
@@LuvTadnDixie Yeah, I think I remember reading an article about that too. And you can totally tell by just looking at this interview how uncomfortable and uneasy she is here. I think that's why she keeps interrupting and is playing with her fingers and looking down. And who can blame her? She's an innocent kid here, didn't she like also say that she had never even kissed a guy before :) Anyway, I'm sure things got easy when she got a bit older and they seem to be in good terms these days.
@@LuvTadnDixie In real life 25-year-old Almanzo started dating Laura Ingalls when she was 15. They married when Laura was 18 and Almanzo was 28. Pretty creepy age difference. De Smet, South Dakota (she did not live in Walnut Grove as a teen) was a tiny, remote town of only a couple of hundred. Almanzo was also only 5'3" and it was difficult to find a single woman under 5'3" in a tiny town! Laura was only 4'11" and Carrie ended up only 4'8" as an adult!!!!! I wonder how tall Pa and Ma were, but clearly the family and others were malnourished being that short.
@@ntiadicted She claimed in MANY interviews that the kiss with Almanzo at the end of the Sweet 16 episode was her first kiss EVER. False. She kissed some boy in Season 4 at age 13. She also kissed Alamanzo at the beginning of Season 6 at 14/15 when she dressed up at a clown. At 17 she became a sex addict in real life! She is lucky she never got AIDS because she slept with Billy Idol and some really bad guys - Scott Baio too. EWWWWW
@@mprkg Those were not kisses, though. They were little pecks that lasted half a second. And whatever she did when she grew up is totally irrelevant to her days of filming these scenes at the age of 15/16 with a much older Dean Butler.

Clearly she was used to being in the spotlight and he was mature and educated young man. Very much of an unbalanced couple but it worked on screen. She "acted" very well and the same with Dean. He must have felt like he was walking on egg shells all the time because of her age. He was rightfully serious about acting and carried himself in an educated professional way.
For a very young performer, Melissa Gilbert was very mature. I’m sure that she was a bit taken aback by having a 21-year-old man cast in the role of Almanzo. The age difference is quite a parent. She is still a teenager except and work experience as he said in another. Interview it had to be intimidating for Melissa Gilbert to be paired with a much older man. However, in real life, Almanzo Wilder was at least 10 years older than Laura Ingalls. Dean Butler does a lot of work in helping the different museums and other places. Connected to the wilder, family and Ingles family. This was a series that made a lot of impact in the years it was on television.
She talks about having to do chores and laundry, but according to Alison Ingram she had No Idea how to do those things because her family always had servants.

Indeed. Especially the eyes, so pretty. I don't know why a few years later she had a nose job. I remember seeing her "new" face alongside the "old" face on the front page of the National Enquirer and thinking "Noooooooooooo" !
She is really rude to Dean in this interview! Ouch. Supposedly she was really mean and rude to him for years, and apologized years later just saying she was 15/16 and a virgin and she did not want to kiss him or film bed scenes with him on Little House. And their characters had such great chemistry on the show!
She sounds and acts like a cute child. I wonder how the writers could take such a child and make her a married woman, it seems ludicrous. And it cannot have been easy for Dean Butler playing love scenes with a child.

Wow thank you for posting but the interview itself was kind of cringey. I had second hand embarrassment. I’ve heard Dean in more recent interviews talk about how Melissa was very rude to him in the press back in the day (saying he’s the “hayseed” type and that he was unattractive). Seeing this interview I feel like I’m seeing it first hand, yikes. All these people in the comments like she’s such a wonderful person and a sweetheart, and yet in this interview she rolls her eyes about the onscreen marriage, she has no interest in letting him talk and speaks to him in a very patronizing way. It’s kind of bizarre. You can tell she has something against him. That said, I acknowledge she’s a kid, literally a teenager. But she doesn’t come across emotionally mature for her age at all. She’s not even picking up on the fact that the interviewer is trying to get her to let Dean speak.
Her father passed away and the presenter did not do any research on her background at all. She is a young person and her father died already and presenter sociopathically said nothing
When she hooked up and married Bruce Boxleitner i thought wow he is alot older then her of course she was already an adult by then. He seemed just as handsome as Dean lol hmmm. She always seemed to up the plastic surgeries stuff then while married to him. Probably to keep him attracted to her. But well the marriage dirvorced after so many years she seems happy with Busfield now who a red head like her and probably likes her for who she is he not exactly to hot in looks department, so maybe she has found her like on the farm in NY with him.
Melissa is so young and immature here. She talks over Dean, and doesn’t realize how young she sounds. Nothing against her exactly, but she is such a child, and funnily trying to be an adult. It’s both annoying and adorably naive. Dean was incredibly patient with her.
I think a bit older more like 18. Here she mentioned 8 years and the show started in 74 so around 82 and born in 64. As a kid I had a huge crush on Laura maybe even more than Mary (who I found to be more ethereal in beauty back then).@@spacemonkey340

Je dois mettre la table. Je dois débarrasser la table. Je dois m'occuper de mon linge sale. Des choses comme ça." lol Elle était très enfantine à cette époque-là et coupe deux ou trois la parole à Dean qui parait alors embarrassé. Dean dit qu'il a commencé à tourner pour La Petite Maison dans la Prairie 2 jours après l'obtention de son diplôme universitaire. Puis il parle de Michael Landon en ces termes... "Je pense que c'est une excellente façon de commencer. Il comprend très bien ce qu'il fait, je veux dire qu'il a totalement compris la psychologie! Il sait écrire (les scénarios). Il sait comment faire des plans de coupe. Il sait comment filmer. Il sait comment tirer à moindre coût les performances de ses sujets qu'il souhaite obtenir. Et il les obtient vite, il ne perd pas de temps! Il sait comment travailler avec les acteurs qu'il faut, et les actrices". Et à ce moment-là ou l'instant d'avant, Melissa lui coupe la parole en disant "et les actrices!" lol C'est là qu'elle lui jette un regard de peste. hihihi Puis c'est au tour de Melissa de parler de Michael Landon... "Il est comme un père! Il a toujours été... Il a toujours été! Voyez? Not impressed with Melissa during this interview! She thought it was all about her! Dean handled it well! After all she was there first! I like Dean so much!
They are so awkward together. All of these years later, we know the truth about how she really felt filming their "love story". I can really pick up on that vibe. She looked pretty pissed when Dean said "actors" and forgot to mention "actresses". It was also obvious in her reaction to his question about the wedding shooting being completed.

I have often wondered the same thing about Donald Trump and his wife Melania-there is at least a 25-year age difference-also with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. How can a young younger woman kiss a guy that much older? Granted these women are older than Melissa was when she did this interview, but the principle is the same. Dean Butler is an old guy to a young lady 16. I could never figure it out, but it worked just the same.
Melissa was a little diva. She was forced to grow out of that. She wanted all the attention on her. I cant believe they were teamed up. she acts 11 years old and he an adult. "I have to clear the table and clean my room" LOL
Did you see how annoyed she got at Dean in the end when he was going on and on about Michael Landon. She wanted everyone to know that he was like a Father to her. Almost like, Dean you have no idea.
