On the "Walking Contradiction" section, listen for the Church Organ combined with a Guitar homage to Merle Haggards "Mama Tried", specifically when he sings "I'm somewhere between a Sunday Morning service and a good old drinkin' song"
Appreciate you doing this song, my friend. And your reaction was right on point...being open, honest, and sincere is the only way to become the best version of yourself. Sometimes in today's "mamsy-pamsy" world it may not be appreciated but that's one of the reasons God gave us balls...to stand for righteousness! Frank is from Cypress Bottom, La near the Arkansas border. He is probably one of the most independent artist out there. He is his own manager, record producer, booking agent, fan club manager, booking agent...and of course writes all his own music and lyrics. He didn't start doing music until he was a junior in college and has released 7 albums since 2011. Its very easy to relate to his music and I always appreciate the perspective of another half-breed! :-)
Great request! I've never heard of him before today. I'll have to dig a little deeper into his stuff. I gravitate to the artists who do as much of the work themselves as they can. To me that's taking musical artistry to it's highest point... and you gotta respect that even if you don't like the end product.
@@goldenlittlefield9757 Yes sir...anything that's anything always goes back to the back story. Guess that's why we both don't do the pop stuff very often. He's the real deal...I think you'll like him!
Frank Foster is the Best, he has written all his songs. His fan base is growing rapidly. In his song Unwind, he sings putting heart back in Country and puttin feel good in your soul.
Frank Foster is a hell of a good artist. I love his first album. But my favorite song of his "Old Man in Me" he was a roughneck before he took off with his music and has a devoted fan base of Oil Field hands! If you didn't get enough of Frank id suggest "Old Man in Me" or "Gulf Coast Cowboy"
Now THIS....THIS I liked! I've only recently come to listen to 'country type' music, and I'm lovin it! Its the stories in the lyrics, it resonates with me...theres a lot of truth in the stories told in country music (or at least in my limited experience). Yeah, I'm lovin it. Thx a bunch to the people recommending these songs, and for Dons analysis of them. Much love 'n support from Downunder.
Great rating! I grew up close to Frank. He is from Summerfield, Louisiana. He does in fact wrote his own music. Even made his own record label. And in fact is a kind hearted good ol' countrty boy. Raised to love his family and God. We (#FFnation) cant get enough.
Finally! Thank you for reacting to a Frank Foster song. I've been waiting patiently for this one! I have seen Frank several times and spoken to him on every occasion. He is the most down-to-earth artist I have ever spoken to. The vibe you got from the song is the same vibe you get from him. It is extremely easy to support a guy like he is. Not only does he have great music, but he is so genuine with his fans. Frank is the man and I appreciate you for taking a look at his music. Please revisit him in the future. You won't be disappointed!
Way to go Don, another great reaction. We are all a part of the good, the bad and the ugly if we will admit it . loved the song. Good request from David.
@@davidemswiler4351 David ,I had to write the lyrics down and the interactions we have had with you these last month's, this song sounds so much like you . your mother was Choctaw right? We are Cherokee, but we go back to great grandparents, still have enough to be proud of. I will listen to more of Frank 's music. Thank you.
@@ritaking2201 Just a simple "thank you" sounds so trite now... You paying me that much attention to actually notice those things truly humbles me...thank you and I mean that! Yeah, my mom's Choctaw but my grandmother on my father's side was a proud card-carrying Cherokee. Also the Elder who did my naming ceremony was an adopted Seminole who was Cherokee at birth. Its all good people though and I'm happy to hear you keep who you are close to heart!
It popped up that you did Who I Am and I thought it was going to be The Way I Am which is maybe my favorite Haggard song. Lol. Oops. But that's okay cuz this guy is new to me and his voice and sound is cool as hell.
There isn't a singer on the radio better than Frank Foster. The Main stream country industry wont let his music on the radio, because he refuses to sell iut to them. Hes a strait up guy singing his songs his way.
He from haynesville right before the Arkansas line. I grew up 20 min from him I can share the part he says about holly ridge road where allot of people went to race on a long straight away
You need to go further down the rabbit hole that is Frank Foster. Hes the best country singer of this time. The man sings honest songs and from the heart. I'm a walking contradiction, I'm right and I'm wrong. I'm somewhere between a Sunday morning sermon and a good ole drankin song. That lyric I feel in my soul
Great reaction, great song. Don when you get a moment, could you do a reaction to Jim Reeves song "He'll Have to Go". I think you`'ll enjoy it. Jim`s voice has been described as velvety and I agree.
This is my first time hearing Frank Foster but this song kinda reminds me of Kevin Fowler's "Long Line of Losers" song....totally different style though
@Brittney Gathright I just discovered this comment, and I'm glad you liked the reaction!! Welcome aboard the channel, as I see you've already got a fan on here. Ha!!
@Raymond Zamora They're Bose noise-cancelling headphones, but I forget which model. IIRC they cost about $200. I considered getting the $300 phones, but those didn't seem to do much more than the ones I got, especially since I do most of my work at home and not in the air.
You played the wrong Foster, nice song for sure, but not Radney Foster. You need to listen to Went for a Ride from Del Rio Texas 1959. An album loaded with some of the best country songs there are.
