Few today know Mr. Sinatra almost single handedly led the desegration of Las Vegas when nobody else either would or could. One of a kind human being---got to love him!
Sammy Davis Jr. był jednym z pierwszych artystów afroamerykańskich, którzy wystąpili w Las Vegas na początku lat 60. przy aktywnym wsparciu Franka Sinatry.@@xxxxxx-ix1sn
Wow! This is what you get when the very best, of the best, get together. From the musicians to the cinematographers to the lyricists, folks, they killed this one. The best version of Mack The Knife.
Sinatra truly THE VOICE of the 20th Century. None before could match his talent and probably never will again. Sure, there are many singers out there, and some of them are also great, but Sinatra was a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon that will never be repeated. That's why it's great that we have all these recordings and videos, because the guy is gone now, but will never be replaced!
Go Frank Sinatra and George Benson, Quincy Jones and they killed it. Now that's music 🎶. Mackie Back in Town. Thank you for the uploading the video. Awesome 💯
The name "Mack the Knife" seems to refer to a murderer. Please, can you tell me if it would also mean some other type of social personage? For exemple, in some cases, certain champions are called "killer."
@@carlosaroliveira5 Mack the Knife is about an old school gangster. Part of Kurt Weill's Three Penny Opera. The original is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zMWc4h77e2o.html
This was when Frank and Quincy were working on the album 'L.A. Is My Lady.' It's a cut from the video that was released in conjunction with the album. While they were filming, Michael Jackson came into the studio to watch and they both posed for the cameras in between takes.
What a GLORIOUS time to be Alive, Saw Mr Sinatra 4 Different Times, The BEST I EVER had was the Copa Room, Middle table Front Row, yea No Seats, Had Dinner, Belting a Few Down and them Mr Sinatra. I am in the 4th Quarter of life NOW but if Someone said we will give 20 years more to live but don’t have those Memories anymore, No DEAL. God what GREAT TIMES.
Damn - this was 1984, way past Frank's heyday and yet he was still kickin' ass! Frank and that gang was really in my parents era and I got them tickets to see him in the early 80s, then I got to see him with my mom in that late 80s. I miss those days so much. Nothing's ever perfect, and I grew up with a clear sense of what's morally and ethically right and fair as opposed to what was wrong. I clearly remember my brothers teasing me because I was always crying ' it's not fair', whenever I saw injustice. My 67yo ass is still outraged by the injustice I am seeing happening now and I would like to say my peace. Shame, damn shame on every single one of you Republicans that has allowed Donald Trump to represent the Republican Party. Shame on you all for allowing him to be a legitimate and viable candidate for people to vote for, after you all saw him throw his VP out to be hung for doing his duty to the Constitution. Shame on you all to continue to support a candidate for President who continues to publicly disrespect every single system of the American government when it doesn't go his way, and then turns around to praise it when it hurts his adversary. It is so glaringly clear that trump is wholly unfit to hold the office of the presidency, and it's up to the leaders in the Republican party to make that call. I can literally hear Nixon screaming up from his grave, 'what the hell is wrong with you guys!' And for the first time, I would agree with him.
Such a good singer, his timing - you think he's going to miss the cue and hits it right at the last moment and the risk he takes with he pitch of some note and gets away with it, he was was better than most appreciated.
My favorite version of this song. The players on this record are no doubt the most talented, experienced, and lauded musicians in popular music. You've heard them even if you don't know them! Fantastic!
I love many of Sinatra's songs. However, Bobby Darin's version of Mach the Knife is superior. Use to think Ella Fitzgeralds version were best, but I think Bobby Darin's is, with Ella a very close second. Even Sinatra said Darin version were the best.
First of all I've never seen Frank perform in a studio. I am astonished. Secondly I didn't know he wore this glasses which are super adorable 😭. Thirdly I am screaming hearing this song He behaves just the same as on stage. Fyi,big sinatra fan here.❤️
@@Nightrain76 omg you saw him perform live?! You are so lucky 😭 I am a big sinatra fan and I am 18, so there's no chance I am gonna have a chance to see him which sucks😭 he is the best ❤️
I did get to see him a couple years after this. Songs that he belted out were great, the softer ones merely really good. More like a combo so not the big sound. I feel really fortunate to have seen him live
Love Frank! He's the absolute greatest singer that ever recorded songs PERIOD! However, he was not pleased with this vocal rendition. He went to the studio and did another lyrical version of the vocals where he NAILED it. The musical track is exactly the same!
This song was once owned by Bobby Darin until this thrilling rendition by Francis and Quincy. As the orchestra builds with each stanza, you know it’s going to reach a crescendo with Francis never missing a beat. Marvelous.
Oh those funny names! FRANK: “My man Louie Miller, he split the scene babe after drawing out all the bread from his stash, Now MacHeath spends like a sailor Do you suppose this guy he did something rash? Oh Sookie Tawdry, Jenny Diver, Polly Peachum, Miss Lu-lu Brown, Hey the line forms, on the right dear, now that MacHeath's back in town”. …...BOBBY DARIN: “Now did ya hear 'bout Louie Miller? He disappeared, babe, after drawin' out all his hard-earned cash, And now MacHeath spends just like a sailor, could it be our boy's done somethin' rash? Jenny Diver, ho-ho, yeah, Suki Tawdry, Miss Lottie Lenya, and ol' Lucy Brown, Oh, the line forms, on the right, babe, now that Macky's back in town” …...LOUIS ARMSTRONG: “Lookie here, Louie Miller, disappeared, dear, After drawing out his cash, and MacHeath spends like a sailor, Did our boy do somethin' rash? Suky Tawdry, Jenny Diver, Lotte Lenya, sweet Lucy Brown, Yes, the line forms on the right, dears now that Mackheath's back in town”… => I had to find out who these characters were! Now I know (Wiki’s): “MACK THE KNIFE” is based on the 1928 German musical “The Threepenny Opera” (and Satchmo added them to the song in 1955). SUKY TAWDRY, JENNY DIVER, and sweet LUCY BROWN were prostitutes who associated with the gangster Macheath “Mack”. POLLY PEACHEM is the wife of Capt. Macheath. Funny thing about LOTTE LENYA: she was the wife of the song's co-writer Kurt Weill (she played Jenny Diver in the original production). When Louis Armstong recorded the song, he was looking at names of the characters in the play and thought Lenya was a character, not a cast member. Subsequent versions of the song were based on Armstrong's lyrics, SO THIS MISTAKE LIVED ON. Finally, LOUIE MILLER represents a would-be client of one of the prostitutes, who is murdered by MacHeath after drawing out his money.
And don't forget Michael Jackson dropped by as well. This was in April 1984 around the time The Jacksons were getting ready to go on their Victory Tour.
Lo dico in italiano... : Il più grande, il più inimitabile, il più strepitoso, l'uomo da perdonargli qualsiasi cosa, qualsiasi... Per sempre.."The Voice".
Sinatra , did more for race equality than any politician to this day has done and than any one ever did!..he was a humanitarian and genius who should of received the Nobel Peace Prize for his advances to peace.
I have this vinyl LP I bought not long after it was released in the '80's. I found it in a videotape store (does anyone remember "Blockbuster?" This is good, and it about as good as it gets. I would encourage any of you to rent/buy the CD. It's entitled something like "The making of an album: LA Is My Lady". It goes into detail about how the record was produced, arranged, and conducted with commentaries by Quincy Jones, songwriters the Bergmans, and some of the band members like Ray Brown and Lionel Hampton. 🎺🎶
