I'm new to Northern Soul and I'm only 27, I have learning disabilities and anxiety. But ever since living with my mum and stepdad they were the ones that got me into in, They taught me how to dance and I've learnt myself too, I go to Northern Soul nights with them and people who I meet always say I'm a good dancer, I reply with I'm still learning. I just feel connected with the music This is one of my fav songs.
I am 68 years old, so happy and privileged to have been part of this incredible music experience, the clubs, the dancing, wow it was mind blowing, black or white it mattered not we all came together to dance and enjoy Northern Soul music x
I'm 75yrs old and this tune brings back so many memories of 60's all nighters at Sheffield's Mojo and The Dungeon in Nottingham, good old day's gone but not forgotten
I’ve always said if youre not 70 ish you weren’t there I went to the Wheel and the Torch never went to the Casino sorry ,but found Roxy music in 72 still the best times ever wish I was 16 again !
I was 80 at Xmas time, and I LOVE this track. Always did and still do. And I can still do the moves like I did back in the 60s-70s, much to the amazement of my friends at a recent weekend break. 🙂
I was never really into Northern Soul,, but this track knocks me out,, how could you not get up on the Dance Floor and do your best moves,, and I’m only,, 71,, Fabulous…🕺🏽💃🏻🕺🏽
Sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
The thing I love about this video is that everyone, young and old, boy or girl, is really into the music and having a great time dancing to something they love, really good to see.
Nina Spencer if it ain’t Northern Soul it ain’t music 🎶 😎🤘🏼 I absolutely love this music, I’m 69yrs old now and still get out on the dance floor 🤘🏼 Keep The Faith 🥰👍🏻🥰😍
@@brennenlancashire2465 I'm a few years younger and I just found this song and video 2 weeks ago and I am hooked!!! I keep playing it over and over again lol!!! Love the dancing and this song is fantastic!! I use to dance like this back in the 80s and even now I do except I don't do the break dancing moves (sorry don't know the correct name of the moves!) BTW on this video where 2 guys and 1 girl are dancing on an open dance floor, do you have any idea who the guy is dressed all in black? Love his dancing! (He's the one doing the spins) also when and where was this filmed? Thank you and KEEP THE FAITH!!
This song reminds me of my dad who passed away on Xmas day 2 years ago. Brings me some comfort Every time I hear it. I'll never forget him driving me to football matches every weekend and me being a typical teenager at the time griefing him for his music taste. Now I love it. Can just see him singing along to it
That's what I like about it - people of all ages. Everyone welcome. Some of the older folks are clearly experienced northern soul dancers, and some of the younger ones are great! I'd love to be able to dance like that! They seem to glide across the floor!
Brilliant ..do I love you .. indeed I do.. reminder of the time when life was just so sane.. keep the faith..all of you out there. Northern Soul forevermore..
It's great to see so many of the 1970's northern soul fans are still into it as much as they were then. And the photos of the couples that were probably couples back then are great and heartwarming. KTF
It is great and 6 music has been playing it for years. I’m struggling to learn the dancing though. I like the young girl at the beginning and end, but I’m hopeless! X
Just on a minor detail....the only people allowed to wear “pants” on the outside are Superman and Batman and even then, it wasn’t a good look tbh. These are called Oxford Bags ( trousers ) but on a cautionary note, just don’t get caught outside in a high wind, as you’ll be found 5 miles away.......
I love seeing all these folks dancing! A moment in time, when nothing else matters other than being on the dance floor, clapping, moving their feet and leaving all the bullshit behind! The magic of music!
This music takes me back 57 now n still loving the tunes And this goes out to my Brother who's really poorly (Do I love you well Anthony Ernest Boult) DO I LOVE YOU FROM INFINITY AND BEYOND UNCONDITIONAL BROTHER LOVE YOUR SISTER JULIE XX
2021. Bolton lad 38 years old. (close to the Casino) Mum and Dad both NS. love it KEEP THE FAITH NO MATTER WHAT BROTHERS AND SISTERS. GOD BLESS ALL NIGHT DANCING JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT
In lockdown and beyond I have discovered all these vids. Never been happier, they just keep on coming. Great DJ, dancing, music, venues, and videos. Keeping it all alive, and to think I thought it all ended in the late seventies. Joining you all in a virtual soul sing and dance along.
Never heard of Northern Soul before (me Dutch from 1962...) but .....wow!! Just saw several YT clips and must say......overwhelmed ! It is so warm to see joyfull people of almost every age dancing on 45 jear old beats.... timeless, clean, honest, pure
Great people who know how to get lost in music and dance their asses off , you ought to go to a reunion party.. we are all a little older now as It was a while ago that were teenagers 😊✌️

This is my top soul tune ever.............i struggle walking but when this tune is played i lean my back against a pillar/wall and top rock my bod .........class doug
One word...Outstanding!!! I seen some folks 50-60 years old there, who have still got it, tearing the dancefloor up as though they are half their age. Awesome.
I was working the Saturday Jazz Dance bar at the Rams Head, Disley as an 18-year-old in 1968. The DJ was doing his "THANG" and I was serving drinks when a lad about my age appeared, spinning on the floor. My jaw just dropped at his skill. That was my introduction to Northern Soul. I had loved soul music from Detroit for many years but had never visited the Twisted Wheel in Manchester down behind Picadilly Fire Station. I had only heard about it and walked by while at Openshaw College.
Frank Wilson here in Motown is virtually unknown, but a mint copy of this record is worth thousands! God Bless our friends around the world who love the sound of Motown! The studio still stands and is preserved...Come Visit! ON East Grand boulevard in Detroit!
God bless Motown , Im 70 and in the U.K and had the pleasure to see live Four Tops , Marvin Gaye , Temptations , Supremes , Edwin Starr , such great music and a privilege to have been around during such a wonderful era . Thank you U.S.A for such great music .
A mint copy ? There are only 2 known surviving copies of any kind afaik, out of a total possible 250 pressings that Wilson asked to be destroyed. A long way from being unknown at Motown btw - one of Motown’s most successful record producers including hits for Diana Ross, The Temptations, The Miracles , Marvin Gaye & many more.
@Bad Lieutenant: Gloria Jones also recorded the original "Gone With The Wind (Is My Love)." The same producer, arranger, backup singers, etc (the Tiaras), were then used as back up for Rita Graham. You can find both versions (Rita and the Tiaras' and Gloria Jones' versions on RU-vid).
Wow! Things have changed since the mid 80s… Flares are in! Who'd guess that? And no Mohair anywhere? Shame to see so few holding the flame these days but I guess these are the most dedicated diehards, Well done one and all. Loving the memories of the best days of my life, thanks. RIP my LI150, The Scooter rallies and the thousands of like-minded people across the whole UK who gathered for the music (first) and the lifestyle.
I've just been to a 70th birthday party where nobody was taking any notice of the DJ, I asked for this song and the dance floor was full in a minute. Fabulous record, thanks!
She's amazing. In shuffling we always had a phrase that shuffling is 90% arm movement. Northern soul requires a bit more footwork than shuffling, but it's what she does with her arms that makes it flow so well. 1:15
@@tropicaldreams2661 i agree, she's amazing ! She's also at the beginning of the Benny Troy - I wanna give you tomorrow video. I could watch her dancing all day! I think I'm in love. Who is she?
So many memories of times gone by. Now 56, my knees are giving way and my hips hurt. I'll still get up and shuffle for a few minutes. I wish I could last an entire record. I used to be up dancing until the sunrise. Keep the faith.
