Buffy died for a few seconds and came back to life, that's it. Dying didn't give her more power, it was just a part of the whole metaphor: Bufffy went through hell in high school and she "graduated" when she died, becoming an adult (stronger). If they had known for sure they would get more seasons, that probably wouldn't have happened, but Joss wanted to tell a complete story just in case the show wasn't renewed. As for the stunts, the choreography and directing is simply better thanks to Jeff Pruitt who came on board for season 2 (as I commented last week).

The name of the TV show Grey’s Anatomy was a pun, because GRAY’S ANATOMY is a famous text book that’s basically considered *the* text book for doctors. It’s meant to be a play on words because the main character’s name is Grey and she’s a doctor.

Fun fact: Joss Whedon explained that the hellmouth is twisting the laws of nature in Sunnydale, making mad science like this possible.

I forgot how well the dialogue / repartee holds up in this show, even in the janky, weaker monster-of-the-week episodes -- and this is a really great couch dynamic you guys have going for it!

Fun fact: Creepy Eric with the goatee is played by Michael Bacall who went on to be a comedy screenwriter and co-wrote Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and both 21 Jump Street movies (among others).

I am really enjoying these lesser and mid-tier episodes with their reactions - way more than I did watching them alone. It's a shame the views are so low because I really want them to get to the great stuff in S2.

Sunnydale High is such a good school, it has two juniors capable of bringing the dead back to life. Makes me think that with all the slayers, witches, invisible girls, etc. it's probably a good thing that no one there seems to be politically active, 'cause I'm pretty sure a coalition of Sunnydale High students could topple any government in the world.

Man these low tier episodes are so fun with these guys. We gotta keep this series going. Angel is a way better character on his own, but he's still great in this

I just heard you ask if Greys Anatomy was a book.... the whole point of the title of the show is the play on words from the famous Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Clinical Practice. It was doctors are meant to study in the very beginning of their medical schooling. That is why it was "cute" her last name of Grey, so they called the show "Greys Anatomy."

I love how they get into the camp of this show and start predicting/creating ships. Super excited to keep going!

Your group reactions make even the weaker episodes really enjoyable. Btw when Buffy was revived it wasn't that she got stronger, it's that she stopped letting her fears (of dying) control her so she was more confident (and therefore the Master had no control over her). That's what I got from that. But you could say that she's stronger now than at the start of season one, basically because she's more experienced. If that makes sense.

Buffy and Angel's chemistry is too good. But also, while being a monster of the week episode, it has good subtle development within it and is so enjoyable

Props to Cordelia for always adapting to the Hellmouth. After getting almost kidnapped (the first time), she's ready to do her cheerleading duty. Her hanging on Angel's arm was hilarious. Loving the necromancy humor from the Normies. The Hellmouth definitely inspires people to do macabre activities. It was natural from the episode title to assume The Master might come back because his bones are crushed and scattered.

I love how they always cheer/scream at some of Buffy's acrobatic stunts or fights ! they ain't ready it keeps getting better

Buffy's still a person, she's always been The Slayer, and that comes with some advantages such as strength and agility, but she hasn't changed. She wasn't stronger after they revived her, she said "no, I feel strong", it was just as a juxtaposition to how anxious and lacking in confidence she was feeling before she went down to face The Master. The fighting gets better throughout the seasons as they get more of a budget, but if Buffy gets stronger, it's only because she trains.

Though kind of rough, the lighting looks great compared to the HD version which generally killed the atmosphere and vibe of the show.

But anyway, SMG, her spouse in Real Life, is a big time, "Scooby-Doo", aficionado, having recorded every episode on VHS, since he could do that. So imagine how happy they were to do the first, live-action movie! Also, how ironic or appropriate, that SMG, affiliated herself with the, "Scooby Gang", and the, "Scoobies"! Side note! Retroactively, the characters that she played before, "Buffy", that couldn't fight, disappoint me now, so her version of, "Daphne", makes me happy! Whereas the helpless nurse in the Japanese ghost movies, made after both, "Buffy" & "Daphne", even "April O'Neil", annoy me, by not knowing how to fight! 🥋

What you have to realize is that this is a universe with monsters in it, so it's not just Sunnydale High that have a death rate (although due to the proximity to the Hellmouth the rate here is higher), every single school and community in the world have children being killed left and right by vampires and other monsters.

Grey's Anatomy is a medical textbook. It's not a story. The show was named after an anatomy book. Some other popular anatomy books used in medical school include Moore's Anatomy, Netter's Anatomy, etc.

The lighting issues you noted may have been made worse by the Buffy “remaster” which has been disavowed by most of the people who worked on the show and was done without their involvement.

The first two or three seasons were shot on smaller film stock, so it was a bit blurry. The dark lighting though is a trademark of the show, and is one of the only shows to have such a wonderful, rich palette of blacks..

Many of Buffy's episodes are inspired/referenced to classic horror movies. You can even start making a list: 01-11 - Out of Mind, Out of Sight - The Invisible Man 01-12 - Prophecy Girl - Nosferatu. Yes, the Master has appeared since the first episode, but here he follows the same fate as Orlock: killed by the heroine (who plays an active role here) and the plague he brought into the world disappears with him. 02-02 - Some Assembly Required - Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein.

I don't like that Buffy plays off the dance when Willow and Xander considered it just as hurtful as well. The difference for those two being Angel cannot be a part of the group who Giles told blatantly what was happening with Buffy having issues and Angel had to stew in his own jealousy because he either didn't know why Buffy was acting that way or had to figure it out on his own. So, no, I don't think Buffy should ever live it down, as she asks Willow as if it is no big deal. She has apologized to Willow and Xander, but Angel admitting jealousy and why wasn't enough for me. Buffy should apologize to Angel as well and no longer make light of it. It was a surprise to me to learn not everyone knows tomatoes are fruit. Considering Cordelia and Buffy are not friends and she heard Buffy say she was lying to Angel about her whereabouts, I don't think she did anything wrong in asking Angel to walk her home and trying to ask him out, if that's what she did. Angel didn't do anything wrong either as he felt a little obligated in not being rude. The Slayerettes were too harsh on him there. Especially considering the whole thing was uncomfortable fallout over what Buffy did to Angel in the last episode. 8:11-8:16 There is a reason David Boreanaz hasn't been out of a job as main character on TV since 1997. His acting definitely helps, but it doesn't surprise me that first time viewers first notice his looks. _Gray’s Anatomy_ is a famous medical textbook of sorts, and thus one of the two reasons for the play one words of the TV Show _Grey’s Anatomy._ The other being the main characters surname is Grey. I think what Angel meant with "they really knew what they were doing" was the incisions and cutting itself didn't look visibly shoddy. But Angel also isn't well-versed enough to make the assumption to know" they really knew what they were doing." It was just his opinion based on looking and cutting he considered better than most he has seen. Buffy saying, "I feel strong" last season wasn't an energy boost of power. It was the metaphor of/and excepting her position as slayer, which she hadn't done until that point.

Every bit of mystical nonsense that happens in this show is because it is happening directly on top of the Hellmouth. The dumb science kids pulled off reanimation because that kind of thing pretty much can't fail there.

The Hellmouth Genius effect, lots of Sunnydale folks can do things that have eluded scientists for centuries. According to the Sunnydale High Yearbook (don't read it, loads of spoilers) both Chris and Eric got loads of therapy and were fine afterwards.

I think Buffy did level up, after her brief death. Also, the stunt work steadily improves throughout the series, and Sarah Michelle Gellar eventually earned a black belt in TaeKwonDo. As for what's going on in Sunnydale, show a little faith. There's magic in the night. 😈

what is there to understand about how shes alive? she didnt die due to the blood loss of the bite she drowned and was brought back by CPR it was done right there on screen Xander even said if she drowned there could still be a chance or something like that

My guess now is, that each season is regular length and it lasted for seven seasons on television before continuing on in the comics. Now having died she lost a bit of that fear of death or just was more confident or simply angry. There's not much in the lore of the show to say that a vampire biting you makes you stronger.

9:05 - They did, that is a horrible transfer using the wrong luma range. There's also a remastered BTVS but it has it's own problems (they didn't really care about cropping the crew out from frames and/or matching the color timing of the original episodes etc).
