I booked a room for 5 days near the station, then I started to see TikToks about how the area was and I cancelled as fast as possible, stayed near downtown, in a very nice place, it costed me almost 3x but surely worth it… very safe area
Hi! I am watching this a few weeks before I move out of Frankfurt (I've lived here for 3 years). Thanks for you video!! I liked it :) Hope you have better experiences in future trips :D For everyone reading this: Frankfurt has amazing nice spots, and a nice skyline... but the main station area... avoid it if you can !! xD
Guys, I grew up in Frankfurt. I walk from the central station to work through some of these streets every morning and see the junkies there. I can tell you that I never got any problems with any of these guys. If you don’t offend anybody then the junkies are completely harmless. These people are just run down because they are sick. Nobody would have killed you. You were too scared of the situation. It looks scary but trust me these junkies are even friendly if you speak to them in a normal way, they have enough problems for themselves, they don’t harm anybody. I’m 41 years now and since I’ve been about 20 I know this quarter very well, let me assure you that if you don’t offend anybody nobody will harm you.
I am glad you are safe. I am seeing that all the cheap hotels are near the trainstation. This is scary. If I ever go to that city, now i know to never go near the station.
I'm from Frankfurt and as you said the Main station area is scary (espacially at night) and such a big shame for the whole city. The potiticians failed to take real actions in order to get rid of the criminality in these few streets. I hope you still could enjoy the rest of the city
I mean the city is absolutely beautiful, I felt like I'm in New York and when I was visiting all the touristic places I felt comfortable, which is I think visible in the video. But I wanted to share also the other part of the city, the not so pretty one that people don't really show in their vlogs (if the video isn't specifically about the problem). But this experience led to something that you'll see in the next video, so stay tuned & subscribe if you haven't already. ✨️😊
Hi, I'm going to be in Frankfurt for some days before Christmas. My hotel will be Scandic, very near to the Main Station area, but typically not in the "dangerous" zone. I want to ask, could it be risky to go from the station to my hotel by walking through that zone in the morning?
@@Marios_Gr I would say no, i would say that it feels much more dangerous than it really is. And if you dont like to walk through that area you can always take a taxi or uber but the hotel is in a quiet nice area so dont worry. Have a nice stay
@@Marios_Gr Or take a tram if there's a possibility! I took one on the morning of leaving Frankfurt and it stops right in front of the train station. I was at the train station at around 7:20 am and sure there were some junkies, but there were also lots of tourists or locals who needed to catch a train, so I just "got lost between them" and nothing happened. Stay safe! ☺
I'm sorry to hear about your experience. 10€ for the Maintower tho is a steal. Remember you're in the financial capital of Europe and going up to one of the highest observation decks in the whole continent.
When I saw you walk around Frankfurt in that downtown area, I was like oh my God please tell me she’s not in that area. I was in Frankfurt last year. I am from Los Angeles. I live in some bad neighborhoods. I went from Frankfurt Central to the train station by taxi, I had my windows down and I saw that area that you was in. I was like oh my God, It was the first time in my life. I was really scared. I know what you’re talking about and I know that area that is a very bad area. I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. In Los Angeles, we have skid row and it’s not even that bad. That area has a wicked vibe
Glad you are safe girl, tbh my friends who study in Germany always say to be very careful in Frankfurt train station because when I told them that there were a lot of junkies in the train stations generally in Germany, they were like, " Have you ever seen Frankfurt?". Then they proceeded to tell me that Frankfurt mainly is the WORST city to be in because of the train station. Idk the exact reason why but from what I have heard, the tax or the penalty to pay as a junkie is lower than the other cities or smt so many junkies and homeless people go there specifically. Thank you for letting more people know with your video because many people do not show this side of traveling. Stay safe.
Wow, okay, I didn't know that with the taxes. I actually wasn't even thinking about the reason WHY are so many junkies there. Thank you for letting me know 😊 And thank you for your kind comment! 🫶🏼 Even though it was tough for me to edit the video, I wanted to show the reality that not so many people show in their videos (if the video isn't specifically about the problem with junkies etc). So I'm glad you appreciated it! ✨
My boyfriend works in Germany (Lärmschutz builder) and let me tell you, when he was staying in Frankfurt, he was terrified. He usually travels with his coworkers in groups of three to five people, consisting of 30+ aged men, well-built, healthy.. They weren't even staying in a hotel near the train station but had to get from one place to another a few times, got closer to the train station and the whole group of adult men - absolutely frightened and on guard all the time. Only time it got worse than in Frankfurt was the city of Worms, where they refused to spend ANY time in the city centre whatsoever. Not so many junkies but mainly immigrants who acted really weird, tried to provoke fights etc. I'm from Czechia and despite being neighbouring countries, it's an entirely different world. I'm not saying every location in Germany is dangerous but.. yeah I'm glad I don't live there, the country has changed so much over the years.
Wow, it's so interesting to see that even 30+ aged MEN were scared there. It's insane.. Never heard of the city of Worms but from what you wrote, I'm not going there ever haha😃 P.S.: Taky jsem z Česka! 😁🤭 Zdravím! 🇨🇿
@@evexlorestheworld I've been to Frankfurt (Male; 28) with two Erasmus Friends (girls) and we had a great time, but were also quite scared at the train station when in broad daylight some guy chased after us with a glass bottle which he ended up throwing after us. We didn't even talk to the guy or otherwhise knew him. It happened right in the "main street" across the train station (when you exit the train station's main entrance just the main road in the center if you cross the road with the tram). Crazy shit going on there. Also the train station was filled with weird people and we ended up waiting for our train in a café inside as we felt a bit safer in there (but it wasn't really cut off from the main area anyway..).
Hey i really want to thank you for this, i had that hotel booked near the train station, have cancelled the booking and will look for alternatives thank you so much!!
Hi, I'm so glad I helped you! ❤️ Yes, I'm now doing okay, it's been a couple of months since I was there. I was a bit traumatized and was scared at night, but I think it's okay now. ❤️ Stay safe there!
Do you have bear spray? Pepper spray is illegal in Germany. I'm a resident of Frankfurt. The area around the main train station is definitely scary if you haven't been there before. The junkies really aren't out to harm you though. You keep out of their business and they'll mind theirs. You have to be more mindful of pickpockets. With all of that being said, I'd never recommend staying in a hotel in that area. I enjoy peace and quiet.
I mean I've never been around so many addicts and the looks they've been giving to me... You never know, even if I was minding my business you never know what they could do.🤷🏽♀️
