Is Frankfurt Safe Around The Central Train Station? ( Frankfurt Main Hbf)

Is Frankfurt safe around the Frankfurt Central Train Station? I walk around the streets in front of the Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof and see for myself.
This area of Frankfurt looks even more dangerous than the last time I was here before the pandemic.
On the streets around the Frankfurt Central Station (known as Frankfurt Main Hbf), there are casinos, spicy entertainment for adults, hotels, restaurants, and bars. This area around the Frankfurt Central Station is very busy during the day with the many people that come through the Frankfurt Am Main Hauptbahnhof Train Station. I show what the neighborhood looks like in the daytime and talk about if it is dangerous.

My wife and I just walked those same streets - AT NIGHT! We stayed at a nice hotel near the river and decided to walk north to dinner before sunset. I told her we needed to find a different street to walk back after dinner and we picked an even worse street! Open drug usage and dealing along each block. At least the people all seemed to be more interested in getting high than bothering us. The next day we waked south, across the river into a really nice area of the city. I would recommend a cab or Uber to anyone who is not comfortable with sharing sidewalks with such conditions.

I walked through there in 2019, it was the same. I have to say though that I never felt personally threatened by anyone, but I agree it wasn't pleasant to look at. The reality is that no one there's looking to hurt you, they just seem to mind their own business. So unless you're looking to try and steal someone's crack pipe, I think you'll be ok lol. I also have to say that some of the comments people left in this video are ridiculous. It amazed me how many people who watched this automatically assumed that all of Frankfurt was like this, and some were even contemplating canceling their trips over it lmao. I've been all over the world, and Frankfurt is one of the nicest place's I've been to. Of course like anywhere, it's going to have bad areas. That's actually the general rule about areas in the vicinity of major train stations throughout Europe.
@Carpet_Carp
@Carpet_Carp 2 дня назад
What you are seeing is called the "Frankfurter Weg". Frankfurt is one of four cities in Europe that doesn't force addicts to the outskirts and instead leaves them in their quarter. The Frankfurt main station district is completely save and these people just live there. Yes, it is not what you see usually, but it is enough to treat them as human beings, which they are, and nothing will happen. The area is completely safe, so don't get your panties in a bunch.

Walked there a week ago, someone was doing crack in the middle of the day. but no one was bothering me. There was a different story when i took my camera out and took a few shots of a station and some trams. Some guy on a bike started saying something to me in german which i didn't understand, i said that i don't speak german, but he just continued, so i walked away. A girl walking past said that he is saying that i shouldn't shoot people without permission. I think this has nothing to do with what i shoot, but he just saw a camera and saw it as an opportunity to scare me or scam me or whatever. I didn't take my camera out in that area anymore to avoid unnecessary bullshit.

To my knowledge, the reason why is because after Frankfurt was demolished by bombs in World War II, the city chose to redesign itself in the (at the time) new American style instead of recreating the old city. It also permits tall skyscrapers. Other destroyed cities chose to restore themselves back to their original form.

You cannot generalise things about Frankfurt. I would say, the area around the Hauptbahnhof are the only ones that make you feel unsafe. But cops are always around, so I have never felt unsafe as a woman mostly travelling alone. Just 800 meters from here is where I live in a place called Westend Sud in downtown Frankfurt, right next to the Messeturm. It’s like the diplomatic quarters with consulates and other main buildings.
