This is a very sweet song. No smut or innuendo, just saying how he has loved her, and she doesn't even know he exists. I had that same experience with one of the girls on my block. She was a couple of years older than I was. I finally got the nerve to say hello. Nothing romantic ever became of it, but she turned out to be a wonderful life long friend.
I used to walk to school and sing this song, for my "first love," and it still reminds me of him, and the joy of feeling the sunshine on my shoulders, every time I hear it.
There's a sad story about this. Franky Valli sang this to his daughter at bedtime. She unfortunately died of a overdose later in her late teens to early twenties. God please hold her to your heart .
Hey Jamel if you like that you should really try Grease off of the Grease soundtrack and it was written by Barry Gibb but Frankie Valli kills it that's one of my favorite Four Seasons songs but I like who loves you even the Disco version I really love that song and oh what a night December 64 you have to check those out you have to have to. If you like his voice then you got the older stuff like Sherry baby and Walk Like a Man
I was 18 in 1996. When it was either HardCore Gangsta Rap, Or Grunge / Alternative. But me and my two friends could sing and loved the oldies and accopella songs. And you know what ..... Even the Roughest, toughest Girls we hung out with .... When we would sing those old love songs. They would absolutely melt. LOL. Never Failed. Lol
Lisa Ann Barriner, when I was 13 on my first day of JH. For the first time I laid eyes on a beautiful girl named Lisa. My eyes adored her, though I never laid a hand on her. Forty five years later and I still dream about her. This song had just been released that same year.
Just imagine being in Junior high with this song playing everyday. You knew you would think of this song latter in life and think about the ones that got away.
What insane person gave this a thumbs down?! Franki Valli ❤️❤️❤️❤️ One reason I love these reactions is rediscovering all the amazing music I grew up with. I had a lucky generation. The 70s are rich with diversity.
We had it all back in the day!!! All the best damn music!! And we loved it all!! From the Stones to RUSH to Jethro Tull to Frankie Valli to Harry Chaplin to The Carpenters to Stevie Ray to Jimi Hendrix etc etc etc etc. It didn’t matter if it was sappy, hard rock, metal, sad, happy, sentimental, funny, jazzy, bluesy ...it was everything and we had it all! Glad you get to experience our youth!
It’s Harry Chapin, not Chaplin, but I bet autocorrect did that. And, yes, all the music from the 50’s through the 80’s was amazing. But I particularly love the classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s.
It’s official now... you need to watch “The Jersey Boys” on Netflix. Produced by Clint Eastwood .... fantastic movie and it has all the music in the soundtrack. (Spoiler: You’ll discover a little bit about Joe Pesci)
@@TheDivayenta I agree with you Karen! I saw it 7 times in the West End and loved it. I rushed to the cinema when the film was released and hated it!! I bought the DVD when that came out, to give it another chance, but I had to stop it after half an hour and haven't watched it since! Much better on stage.
There was a time when people respected others and did the right thing because they were raised that way--respect for your parents, your teachers, your public servants, your sweetie and most of all, yourself. Doing the right thing wasn't seen as a weakness; it was a sign of strength and maturity. These songs reflect those days.
This song came out and instantly transported me back to the 60s, the 4th grade and the lovely Norma. She was the first girl I literally loved. We were really close and constantly teased by the other kids. We didn't care. Then...she moved away....broke my heart. Her last day and I was a total jerk. Wherever she is I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I never felt anything like that before.
"This is what you all had? No wonder you all have some good head on your shoulders....my goodness". Jamel, you have just cited and pinned point the exact reason why older people are wiser and so mature with love compared to the younger generation of today. I actually feel sorry for the newer generations who I feel will never feel the same feelings to a larger extent compared to the times ago.
😂 when you asked if we were floating, I laughed. I just happened at that exact moment to be slow dancing with my very content male cat in my kitchen. Thanks. He really enjoyed the song. 😺
Thank you for all the "goosebumps" with your reaction!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, Frankie would just make us melt and want to be in love, fall in love, it's just love. His voice is dynamite for sure. Thanks!!! My man passed away 10 years and I picture myself holding him tight, but it hurts so much to go back in time. I'm ok, just brings back great memories.
For my mom's 79th birthday, I bought tickets to see Frankie Valli & the (new) Four Seasons. A big bonus was that one of brother's best friends & next door neighbor was one of the Four Seasons. Obviously, she raised me right!
This song reminds me of my first secret crush. I wanted to sing this song to her, but, I was too shy. We both were in 6th grade when this song came out.
Yep,..... in high school my best friend was a girl. I was so in love with her I couldn't see straight, but I never said a word to her.. I knew she saw me a nothing more than a friend so I keep my mouth shut.
@@melindalehan2060 The movie uses the song as a reaction to how he lost his daughters. It was meant to capture his melancholy, but it wasn't about them.
This song came out when I was just going to start high school(1974). I always wished someone felt that way about me. Still do. Sigh. Yes. this is what we had back then and it was absolutely beautiful. Great song choice Jamel.
@Kenneth: Me, too. Expressed my feelings for the girl l married. Unfortunately I lost her to cancer 5 years later. The song is bittersweet for me to this day. I see her face every time I hear it.
People argue that music doesn't influence you. Your mood sets the rest of your day or helps you make it good or bad. Growing up listening to this kind of music all the time... yes, we were in great moods.. kind, thoughtful, fun and friendly... I miss it.
😌 Ahhh, remember when a young man (Jr high) had a crush on me and dedicated this song to me, after he walked me home, (5 miles) and I refused to give him a kiss. He still dedicated this song to me😉
What you fail to understand is my mother would’ve skinned me alive if I would’ve kissed him, even on the cheek, also she told me if I kissed a guy I would get pregnant and I believed her! Couldn’t take the chance!
Aside from the great performance of Frankie himself, the production value of this song is amazing! I mean you can hear a harp, full orchestra, the guitar, keyboard and drum work is perfectly mixed 👌 just fantastic. Always loved this tune but thanks for reminding just how excellent it is...
Jamel, after that, I’m sitting here, forcing RU-vid to refresh on my iPad so I can catch the next one as soon as it drops. Keep em coming. As long as new people find and appreciate the old school music, it will never fade out or go out of style. ✌🏽
@R W What's a shit film? Jersey Boys? Clint Eastwood directed that. Or are you referring to Buddy Holly? I didn't know they made a new Buddy Holly film. When did they do that?
How about Jim Reeves “He”ll Have To Go”. It’s an oldie, but my mom loved this song and would sing it walking around the house all the time. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.
Back in the day. But now in this day YOU remind those of us who grew up with it and you spread it to a large new audience. You dance like you feel it as we did. Love it and you.
I'm 56 years old. The first time I heard this song was when I was 8 and it's been carved into my soul ever since. I thank God that he allowed me to grow up in such an epic era. Brother Jamal you are an inspiration to many, keep on doing what you do. Much respect.
This song makes my cry because of my Daddy. He has Alzheimers but when this song comes on we sing it together word for word. One of his favorite groups....
My song...I was 5th grade he was 6th,he walked me to my street, he was a school safety guard, Didn't see each other for years after school. Met up again as teens , dated , married , still together 48 yrs later... True Story :)
One of my all time favorites by Frankie and Co....Try some Yvonne Elliman "Hello Stranger" or "Love Me" or her monster Hit "If I can't Have You"...The Hawaiian beauty has such a beautiful voice...
Jamal I love how you love and appreciate this music that we do! Frankie Valli and The Fours Seasons (& Frankie Valli) had so many incredible songs, Swear To God!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but Frankie Valli was THE VOICE back in the 60's with the Four Seasons. In the 70's, he went solo and some powerful ballads flowed from this man. You must hear 'Swearin To God' by him...
I loved your reaction to this song and Frankie. I do love Frankie Valli, and am glad you have found him, and The Four Seasons. Ready for your next reaction!
