I’m loving these Franklin Christoph pens! Thanks for showing us another one.

I just got the Nagahara needlepoint. I tried the Masuyama needlepoint years ago, and I do believe the Masuyama was finer than the Nagahara . Your video convinced me to get a needlepoint, by the way. Thanks!

what do you use it for anyways? just an everyday writer? Never tried a needlepoint.

Oh wow, I need this! I print and write small. I love the idea of an ultra extra fine that is a smooth writer. I have 2 Franklin Christoph pens and love them, also love supporting a small American business with pens made on site

Love the Franklin Christoph pens and the fact that you can order a nib grind from an actual in house nib meister. I have two of them.

Lovely pen. I have been stalking the FC website ever since I saw your antique glass pen. :)

Thanks for the info and opinions. I find them particularly useful as I am considering getting a needlepoint for drawing, and suddenly I seem to have Franklin Christoph fever.

I have that same exact pen with a Mike Masuyama (He worked for F.C. at one point) FCI steel nib. Love it! Great Review!

Good to know one can write cursive with this needlepoint nib. I got an Italian Ice on Tuesday, during the online show, in the 02 Intrinsic. It isn’t the model I preferred, it’s the one with the very tapered barrel. I am hoping I will like it more than I think. This time I got an EF. My first FC is a fine, but I think it’s a pretty broad fine compared to the Japanese nibs I’m used to. I plan on using the Italian Ice pen as an eye dropper, which I think will show the pen off the best, as it’s very clear and seeing the converter inside isn’t a look I like. I am waiting for a 45 to pop up in a color I like, and also am considering the 03 Ghost.....I am thinking that Franklin Christoph pens might be addicting...

so excited. just ordered my first Franklin Christoph. went model 45 Olivae with needlepoint. i use my fountain pens for drawing. i do a lot of fine detail. i've coveted a needlepoint nib for years now. it's finally happening! Awesome content. ❤ i do have a. platinum uef nib on a 3776, but the section cracked out of the blue. hardly used. transferred the nib to a penbbs 308 niangao. the nib is incredible. looking forward to comparing the two.

the section on my 3776 cracked too, after only a year of fairly light use at my desk. not sure about the solid colored versions, but the translucent 3776 plastic definitely feels less robust/cheaper than the materials the sailor pro gear slim and pilot custom 912 are made from respectively (sailor’s is definitely the nicest/sturdiest feeling resin, which i suppose is why the smaller pgs is generally more expensive than comparable models from pilot and platinum?).

I have a model 20 Marietta with a Masuyama cursive italic in fine, I enjoy it. I enjoy collecting variations of the model 19, each with a different nib to try them out. I have a model 66p on the way with a needlepoint, it was nice to see what I will be getting in to!

Love the needlepoint. I have a Platinum 3776 with ultra extra fine coming! Can't wait to try it.

I’ve been considering the ultra extra fine, but realistically do I need more than one very tiny nib? Probably not. I hear the 3776 is a good one though.

I have a Model 20 Marietta with an HPS Broad Stub ground by Mike Masuyama. I wonder when they switched to Nagahara and why?

As I understand it the change was fairly recent. Supposedly Mike Masuyama wanted to focus on his own business. Both Mike Masuyama and Nagahara were trained by the same person and I have heard that the quality is similar. There will probably be some differences, but it’s probably just the individual differences of the two grinders.

I ONLY write with needlepoint in cursive. Love Nagahara nib! It's sensational.

I had an issue with the step up at the section. It did not suit my holding style. But the nib I had was great.

Aloha! Another exquisite pen! Needlepoint? Hmmm. I just bought a Platinum #3776 with a SF and it's much finer than I had anticipated with the signature Platinum feedback, which is fine by me. But since my taste has been more towards medium's and broad's, not sure how I feel about this SF. BTW, watching the live stream of Mike Matteson last Friday, Franklin Christoph has a "pen show" on the 23rd of this month. In case you need to add the missing Italian Ice finish you mentioned? Mahalo and take care, Thomas

Thanks for letting me know about the FC online pen show. I'll have to go watch Friday's livestream to get the details!

I love my Franklin-Christoph pens and have never considered a needlepoint--maybe I should give it a try! If I may make a suggestion, silicone grease is pronounced "SI-luh-kown," not SI-luh-con." There is a word "silicon," bit it has a different meaning. In researching this, I learned that silicon is a natural element, whereas the word "silicone" is actually an invented word that combines silicon and ketone.
