Naw hear me out- Michael B Jordan is the next Denzel- my first point of support would be his work in The Wire. Dude has been killing it since he was young.
I actually see him losing everything as a gift just as he had. Yea he had the money, nice house and pretty women. But he imprisoned himself with the burden of taking care of his family, making sure that they didn't get caught and just trying to make sure those that were close to him were as comfortable as possible. He even said it to Leon. I'm free free from it all. Subconsciously he didn't actually want to be the head niggah in charge. He just made himself the head niggah in charge because he felt he had to because somebody had to lead. I mean just look at his uncle he's much older, wiser and stronger so he could've pushed Franklin aside and took charge if he wanted to. He just didn't because he was too p*ssy his damn self. He didn't want to bare the burden of anything bad happening so he played the game but decided not to take charge of anything because deep down inside he was a p*ssy. Yea we know he was physically intimidating but mentally he was weak. Franklin had to carry the burden of being the leader. And in the end despite him losing everything financially including his child, the mother of his child and becoming a drunk he was free from it all. That was his gift and his curse in the end. F*cked up but yet beautiful at the same time.
This shit gets me every time. Franklin was sooooo about his business and his money it’s literally impossible to not love this character if you were a young man like me when watching this show for the first time. Despite how ruthless and evil Franklin did ultimately become, this is exactly why he did go down that path. This man was entirely money minded in an utterly cutthroat business and it made him callous as fuck.
