I love how each of Franz Ferdinand's songs change rhythm so quickly, and abruptly.

This song has my favorite line in any song ever: "i charm you, and tell you all the boys i hate, all the girls i hate, all the words i hate, all the clothes i hate.. all i'll never be, anything i hate, you smile, mention something that you like" love it.

The cool thing about their songs as they start off good and almost always get better as they go.

It's still my favorite song of theirs. I strongly identified with the pessimist when the album was first released but now I see wisdom in "you smile, mention something that you like"

Something I think is so defining as a part of their songs is how they split one sentence into two separate lines, and then joint the first part of the next thought into the end of the previous one. it makes it a little difficult to follow, and harder to sing because you don't get a breath to think about what line is next. it makes your brain stay attached to the song waiting to hear the line finished, but before you can think of anything else they've inserted another thought into your head.

Who directs their music videos? They all kick ass. They have this weird self aware feel to all of them.

He introduced me to this band and we went to see them on his eighteenth birthday. I was so in love with him. He knew that, didn't feel the same. This song reminds me of us a lot, though. Hope no one sees this comment.
