the versions you saw were censored for children, the original looney tunes and tom and jerry featured suicide jokes and cursing, like porky pig saying son of a bitch
@@folfielukather8083 that was an animation made for those who worked on WB cartoons, the porky pig one was never made public until recent years as it was meant as an in-house thing. the suicide jokes I am not sure about though, they may well have been censored as a lot of stuff was when they were all broadcast on TV. PS. It was T&J that introduced me to this at the tender age of about 3 or 4.
For me, it was Who Framed Jessica Rabbit that introduced me to the piece. Of course, it took a really long time for me to find out what I had heard back then
yes, growing up with Hanna Barberra and Warner Brothers cartoons was my first introduction to music of any kind and has made me a life long musician. This is one of the pieces that I can remember from the cartoons and helped in my endeavors.
@@benthomason3307 you sir have attacked the honor of both Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny. They are anything but boring! predictable maybe, cliche perhaps🤔 but boring ;-; they are anything but the sort! 1 is voiced by the man with a thousand voices himself who did the entire looney tunes cast and the others are the perfect silent slap stick duo who have entertained millions of children up to this very day. So I will not stand for the slander of saying they are "Boring" good day to you sir! Slaps with a white glove filled with an anvil X3
07:20 When you are going down the stairs at your maximum speed because a grand piano is sliding down the stairs right behind you. Everyone has passed by this, at least once... R-Right?
That is the purpose of music. To express and share emotions without the use of mere words. Of you want to hear fancy words poetry is what you look for.
All of Liszt’s piano compositions sound like 2 people at one piano. Good ole 4-Hand stuff. I actually have a 4-hand piano duet arrangement of this great piece.
If you're wondering how can music unleash a myriad of emotions in you, this is proof. Amazing, amazing piece of music. Pleasure to listen to it everytime
This truly is THE PERFECT VERSION . The glaszandos and trills and accelerandos are crisp and resonant --pure magic . He hesitates in all the right places to emphasize the drama . All-in-all a mesmerizing experience .
Agreed. This is the best version. Brendel's timing and phrasing match the complex theme. The talent it takes to play this piece doesn't necessarily mean you have the proper understanding to express the sentiment of the song, but Brendel has nailed it. (I like the high end on this piano. It retains its quality and doesn't blend into one long screech. I wonder what brand it is.)
Didn't know Brendel played this and thought he was more of a classical period performer. It's great. I love the dynamic range he gets, out does any recent artist I've heard here on You Tube. Superb!
@@waynemarvin5661 It's Liszt who's wonderful, I'm just saying it's rare 'cause it's an acquired taste. Seriously, what percent of people do you know have or would be willing to scope this piece out? Imagine if only that amount of people liked beer.
I just followed along with my score. This is The Perfect Version. Where Liszt indicates to “cadenza ad lib” this pianist does so. The cadenza sounds as if it were written by Franz Liszt. Perfect.
I read this, and felt it in my soul that you were right. But, I had to scroll back to the top and see for myself. Sure, as shit... The fucking Ghost Rider gotta be his. Now, I've spent 49,567 years trying to get back to this comment, so I could play Maury and confirm. I'm still laughing my ass off.
@@runokati3668 When Liszt sightred Chopin's etudes in first try, he (Chopin) said, "I wish I could steal his hands when he played my works." (I don't know if this is what he exactly said but Chopin knows that Liszt is better than him in all the techniques on the piano.)
How dare you, RU-vid! Interrupting beautiful music with an ad in the middle? Disgraceful!! Like you don't make enough from the ads you put out in the beginning and end of a song! STOP INTERRUPTING MUSIC!!!!
Sensacional! Fico imaginando a criação dessa música. Acredito que para se criar uma música excepcional dessa, tens de ter uma cabeça além de seu tempo. Obra prima!
Alfred Brendel? I’ve never heard of him!!! This mid/late romantic interpretation is absolutely fabulous!! I’ll have to give his other recordings a listen! His mp high trill notes are so fun and light and playful! Love it! A great piece, but this has such life to it! So much fun!
As a child, I remember Dad playing this record on his Fischer stereo/ Thorens turntable and KLH speakers. Lots of Bach, Shubert, Beethoven and Brahms. Beatles and Rolling Stones in the morning.
This is such a beautiful piece. I wonder if Franz would have okay with it being lmprimarily known for being the piece that cartoon characters routinely knock the tar out of each other to.
I just got into a neuroscience coop, something I wanted since I was a child. I remember getting called weird for liking classical music as a kid. I like being weird now.
My father played.....he exposed me to this composition, and many others, from a time before remembering. It's remained a favorite, for me, through the decades. Thanks for posting this one
I swear these dudes were the rock stars of their time. Idk about y’all but I’m always head banging to this tune. I can just imagine a piano coming out of the floor…white light and a fog machine !! Haha shredding the keys!!
I'm not fucking joking about this. My dog at like 6:06, started doing his silly (I call it his, 'you're in trouble' run) run around my couch over and over and over and over. I wish I could of recorded it in time, but I was crying from laughing so hard. Nice, my dog Zorro likes Liszt. XD
when i hear this, it will always bring back either looney toons or tom and jerry, because tom and bugs have both played it in a piano episode and thats what allowed me to remember it since i was 3 or 4 but today i found out the name of the song so there not more decade long wonder of what its called.
Im seventeen and i absolutely love this peice of music. Everytime I hear it i imagine that I'm playing it myself on the piano. This is one of the main songs that inspires me to Learn how to play
@@real_nosferatu Thanks, my 10 year old son commented that. My children's piano teacher gives them listening assignments every week. This being one of them. They are also big Tom and Jerry fans. I will let him know of his spelling and grammar mistake. ;)
Along with Super Mario, SpongeBob SquarePants, Steve Urkel, Carlton Banks, Sister Act, and the Ultimate Love Songs Collection commercial, Tom and Jerry is how I learned to appreciate music.
