Endlich versteht jemand, dass der erste Satz voller Leidenschaft und Dramatik steckt. Zu oft habe ich Interpretationen im Konzertsaal und als Aufnahme gehört, wo der zweite Satz zweimal gegeben wird, nämlich als Wiederholung des Kopfsatzes, beide im Tempo kaum voneinander zu unterscheiden. Leleux als Oboist versteht, wie und wo man die Schwerpunkte setzen muss. Ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, dass ehemalige Orchestermusiker oft - nicht immer! - die deutsche Romantik besser begreifen als viele Pultstars von heute.

Terrific performance! It's also wonderful to see more conductors and orchestras using the new numbering system which corrects the number of genuine Schubert symphonies to eight. ☺
I will never tire of this piece of music or of listening to it. I've heard many such performances on this medium, and this director and orchestra "nail" it as good as any others I've heard. A highly "moody" piece which looks far forward (whether the composer knew it or not) and I've always loved, but never more than now. JAT
