For the 3rd time in 12 months, I spend a few days on Fraser Island 4wd in my Toyota Land Cruiser 105. On this short trip, I travel with Allan from PJ's Off-Road, and we discovered some amazing places. In the first Episode, we find some rarely seen shipwrecks among them the "Ceratodus" a stranded Dredge which was converted into a Sand Barge. We discover Ungowa and climb the old Ungowa Jetty and see were Wanggoolba creek enters the ocean. We drive many of the rough and often overgrown inland tracks and also do a fair bit of beach driving. We see some unusual brown cliff lines on Fraser. We swim in Lake McKenzie without another single soul around. We camp for the night at Central Station where Crickets goe nuts, do a de-tour to KingFisher bay from where we walk to the old WW2 Comando Army Camp and Mckenzies Jetty and Saw Mill

Hope you enjoy part 1 of the 3 Part Fraser series. Could not believe how much we got into this 3 day trip and that we found so many interesting things I never knew existed on Fraser. What is your favourite spot on Fraser?

I've never seen Fraser Island like that it was outstanding to watch and learn of different scenery and history. One of the best filmmakers for sure thanks Stephan.

I really like the way you are not frivolous with our history and think your research is first rate. I think it shows respect for your work, your audience, and for the environment which you are documenting. We share a wonderful country and it really annoys me when "some" RU-vidrs, because of their own ignorance, portray Australia inaccurately. Especially considering that people from all over the world watch these videos and form an opinion because of them. Thank you for doing a great job once again...

Another great video Stefan and i look forward to the rest of the series. I worked on the Fraser west coast back in the eighties in between ski seasons pushing and building timber slat roads for a failed resort. There was always long forgotten discoveries in overgrown timber camps and the odd hermits camps as we referred to them. I think they were just where individuals hid from the depression and society in general in days past.

interesting was there another resort?

@@AlloffroadAu yes, up north of Kingfisher, but it failed prior to ever having any buildings built, some minor infrastructure of tracks and clearings were cut, and we were putting in large slatted pallets to drive on and control erosion. It was planned to be Eco style similar to that in the dunes at Uluru.

thanks for sharing the information, I'm somehow glad it did fail though..

Once again your photography is top notch and your research meticulous. One of our favourite spots is Lake McKenzie - just love it there. Looking forward to Episode 2. Well done Stefan.

Huge trees? They aren't so bad of course but if you want to see big trees you need to come check out the redwood trees in northern California.
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu 5 лет назад
Not to compare with your redwoods but for trees growing on a Sand Island they are pretty big. Northern California is on my to do list

Good video mate, definitly keen to get back to to Fraser again this year. Are you going to do a video on your g-turbo and tune? I just finished installing a fte into my 80 series she runs good now but will be looking to beef her up with a g turbo ecu new injectors etc in the next few months just keen to here you're opinion on the upgrades
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu 5 лет назад
So far very happy though GTurbo customer services is horrendous, they knew I drove 1200km to get Turbo installed and had 3 weeks time yet only send a day before installation with regular post (takes 6 days) so wasted a week sitting around in Nambour waiting for part to arrive. They said bad luck should have paid for overnight (which was never offered and with 3 weeks time should not have been needed anyway)
