Welcome to part one of my Fraser Island Adventure. Checking out the beautiful beaches and attractions and having plenty of fun in the sand! Although mistakes were made along the way....
**LOCAL POLICE** **ARE NOW TAZERING** **95 year olds in walking frames.** Saw this sign on the highway the other day, good to see they are spreading the love right across the community, keeping us “safe”.
Wont catch me saying i have the utmost respect for polie. What was he doing that was worthy of respect? Blind compliance is more dangerous than 58 in a 40. Thanks for the video mate.
Takes me back to the Fraser trip I did with my wr450 about 10 years ago. Before I had a missus, mortgage, and kids, when life was a lot easier and simpler. It really was a bucket list trip and watching your video made me relive it. Thanks for posting.
Wise piece of advice right there: ''Before I had a missus, mortgage, and kids, when life was a lot easier and simpler.'' Take me back to the Paradise City......
@@carenbarnet378 Absolutely can't wait to share with my kids what I enjoyed doing before them. The year after my motorbike trip my missus and I started going to Fraser. We went 7 years in a row before the first kid came along.
Haha, same thing happened to me last year. Beach was covered in massive jellys, so I was sitting at about 60 to dodge them, just too unsafe to do 80 at the time. Didn't realise I hit a 40 because I was focused on the road. Oh well, best place in the world to get a speeding ticket IMO. What got me was how angry the cop was, I just said to her "you work on a beach all day and you can't crack a smile? I'd be loving life to work here", that didn't go down well lol.
Amazing. What wonders you guys have downunder. Planning to move to NSW later this year... Looking forward to getting a DRZ and join the club! Awesome stuff....
Awesome first ep mate, looking forward to the next! Shame about the ticket, not sure how it makes sense having a speed limit for the bikes when you can't go too slow on sand on a bike 😕
Thanks mate! Yea it is a bit of a weird one, he did mention that he understands having to keep the speed up on sand when on a bike but still no joy getting off with a warning. Just gotta wear it unfortunately. 🤟
@@_JoshJB_ Yep - makes you wonder really if they know bikes need some speed but the revenue is just too good to pass up....tin foil hat theory I know but if the boot fits.....
Around the more populated areas you can have very young kids on the beach. Just on dusk I once came across a kid (maybe about 4yo) sitting in hole just above the waterline making sand pies. You might know, holes and drop offs on the beach are invisible right up until you get on top of them, especially at dusk. Parents weren't anywhere within a couple of hundred meters. It also happens around camping areas, the creeks etc. It's a shared area, and the parents are probably up in camp drinking beer and eating food. Reverse the situation for the moment, and think about if you had kids that had wandered back down to the beach. That's why there's no free ride for bikes.
There used to be lots of bad accidents before the speed limits. Lots of young foreign tourists driving overloaded rigs off road for the first time in their lives, driving on soft sand at over 100kph like they were on a sealed highway. There is no medical help on the island, so its for the best.
That cop should know speed is your friend on a bike in sand. Oh well, shit happens, just got to move forward... Last time I was on Fraser was in 1989. Drove around in the day, put the tent up at night, not knowing we were camped on an ants nest... woke up to dingoes opening our esky, the handles were locked on and they still got in it, stealing our food. Swam in lake mckenzie and saw a dingo bite a young girl on the leg, she was sitting down building sand castles minding her own business. Then stopped at the shop for a burger and dingoes trying to eat them off us... So bloody hot, but you can't swim in the ocean 'cause of sharks. A cyclone hit on the 2nd day, everyone was told to get off the island and I've never been back! 🤣🤣 But I loved your video. Thanks.
Wait till the next pandemic comes along, and then see what McGowan has install for W.A residents. He will be trying to outdo dictator Andrews!! (i.e. Civil liberties & democratic rights out the window ) cheers
Only ok in WA ATM cause they have FK all cops available and therefore dont wanna upset by putting any on traffic duties...Those states lost credibility and public respect during the COVID period and their heavy-handedness which now they do realise the police have lost a shitload of public respect.
I’ve been to Fraser 12 years ago, undercover police pulled me over with his gold Toyota prado and he was so nice and let us go while i was going fast on the beach with no seat belts and lots of other violations that i wont say ( i was 21 ) i remember everything about that trip it feels like yesterday, i miss Australia
I am enjoying the journey you have shown so far. Your commentary showing the lay of the land has helped me more than most other vids of Fraser. I plan to take my family there in a year or so, but with the fourby. Good all rounder the DRZ. Last time I met riders in Maryborough the came up through the forest from Gympie, just another way to get on the trail and end up near enough to link Fraser too.
My step farther went over on his DRZ 400, with a few mates a couple years back. He's always up my ribs to get a dirt bike to go over again with him. Best trip ever on the bike he rekens.
I think we all agree to cop a fine for doing the wrong thing. But the amount they whack you nowadays is obscene. It deteriorates respect of the law as it gives an overt impression of blatant revenue raising.
Im thinking someone on a new bike, on Frazer with new gear and a drone and camera on him can probably afford the reminder. Seems price appropriate to me. If it was still $120 then what's that 30 mins work to pay if of for most people these days ? almost as long as it takes for the copper to write the fine, shit with the cops time and equipment i wouldnt even think 120 would cover that. If penalty's aren't enforced then there is no order to the law - no law means people aren't safe to go out for fear of being run over. That stuff is just plan simple proven math. Keep up the good work coppers.
Some 35mm film works well in those seals… clean and reseat the rubber. That’s a bush mechanic trick that’s worked well for me in the past Have fun buddy Keep it upright
Awesome bro. I was there last year and hiked 160km up the middle of the island. I was at eli creek at 6 in the morning and I was the only one there. It was very special. Gotta take a bike over there next to explore the northern part.
Thanks for posting this video, what a great Drz trip!! I’m in Oregon and might have to try out our local dunes(Winchester Bay, Coos Bay) areas:) thanks again
One thing that people need to understand about cops doing speed enforcement is that they are black and white on the subject. There's not much grey, if you are speeding you'll get a ticket. And the cop probably knows more about sand driving than most given he works on a sand island. When you think about it, 58 in a 40 zone is a fair bit above it as well. I passed a cop doing speed checks on the north side of the Maheno once when I was riding south. As I went past the wreck a bloke in a monster type truck gunned it north. Clouds of soot and a drainpipe exhaust so the cop couldn't miss seeing or hearing him. Monster truck probably got a few blisters that day so all in all, the copsare unfortunately needed there but it still hurts paying the fine.
i got done for not having my seat belt on coming out of eurong, doing 30kmh to put rubbish in the skipbin right next to the outlet path 30 metres up the beach $1000.. know how you feel at the start of a holiday
Im heading to pick up a mint 400E tomorrow, taking my truck across Lake Michigan via ferry also to get it and stopping to ride some dunes on way home.....I hope I didnt vex meself now and get a ticket also LOL.
I love Fraser I only live just over in Bribie sandstone point it’s a beautiful place to be love it I went out there not to long ago with my uncle in his 79 series it was sick
my last name is fraser, and alot of the creeks and places on the island are names of my sisters and brothers, been 6 years since I last went to fraser island. Hope you had fun
Me old boy has just retired up near there at caloolacove.. I love getting away to the area.. bout to buy a boat for him to use and myself when I get away from work. Amazing place.
Never in a million years would I expect a speed trap on a beach! That said, looks like a pretty busy one, and there have been some high profile accidents on far quieter beaches here in NZ so they aren't out there for no reason at least. Looks like paradise none the less, makes me want to get out and do this sorta stuff!
The reason the cop was there is because THAT IS EURONG, the spot with the few houses you went into is not Eurong. You mentioned Eurong as “just a track that goes inland”, but it is the main township with a resort, bakery, fuel etc and you attempted to speed past it without going in.
Cool shit mate! Although it cost you a fortune she's a nice part of the world to enjoy! Love getting amongst it myself, would of been a mad trip just on a dirt bike!
I was on the tip once and this guy came blasting through the sand dunes on an XR 600 he had a big back pack and fishing rods out the top like an army areal. he jumped a few little dune caps about 5 feet tall and got some unwanted confidence and went for the 6 footer, my riding buddy & i sat on the ground watching while he launched himself into the air and came down spear diving helmet first through the next sand dune. We couldn't stop laughing when he jumped up in shock and grabbed the bike and rode away with sand streaming out of his helmet like a giant hour glass hahahahahaha
Hasn't that cop got anything better to do..... like arrest 12 yr old car thieves and then bail them so they can thieve again? Fair enough if you doing something "dangerous" .....
Looks like the Copper that pulled us up on double island when we were on the bikes and was just hounding us for a reason to be able to fine us 😪 other then that mate mint video been keen to get over there for a while now
a copper tried to book a mate of mine for parking on a rock at eurong. literally one front wheel flexed on a bare rock sticking out of the sand on the beach. there's some real nut jobs out there.
They're absolute pricks on that island. They've got UCs on there too which most people don't know about and/or realize. We were in a 5 car convoy at Easter (we have been going to Fraser since the mid 80s) and minding our own business when we were pulled over for RBT. Our son who was driving our 2nd 4WD (my car) was hounded by the officer about the lift, the wheels, etc. and told that he (the cop) would go through the car from top to bottom if he saw our son again... very disappointed by the attitude!
Me and a bunch of mates did the ride up from tewantin to double island then rainbow on stock groms hahaha, the hardest part was the fresh water track on the way back
nice mate, we almost made the trip last xmas in my new ranger, would love to do it on my dr650 :) only thing is making the trip up from Albury would take a while :) maybe this coming year might take the fam across.
Such a dog move by that coppa and what a way to ruin a great trip for ya. I got done doing 93 (shitty day, left cruise control on and it creeped up etc) coming into the 80 zone after Deagon Deviation at Hornibrook (Ted Smout) bridge. Motorbike coppa vs my slightly modified car, I was always going to lose that.
Man that sucks bout the fine, thx for sharing tho, I get it important to control crazy drunks driven recklessly, but 58km/r on a dirt bike on the beach? No negligence or risk and over $400? Fk that. You’ve probz saved a bunch of newbies to Fraser some coin with this vid! Thank you 🙏
Seen as there's a speed limit that he's enforcing I guess it's classed as a main road, id write a letter saying it's unsafe on a bike to travel at that speed on an unmaintained road.
Shame about your fork seal Joshy! Get yourself one of these jobbies. Pop that dust seal/cap off next time and the actual fork seal is under, run this around it and will clear out any crap that’s in there!! 👍
If he was focussed on safety then that leaky front forkseal would never have been ignored in favour of a three day adventure! What a crock of the proverbial kaka!
@Jim Mulholland because you've never sped. There is too much focus on the speedo and not enough focus on safety. Speed doesn't automatically mean unsafe.
gone are the days of the good cop sadly Josh ,great drone footage.what type of drone do you use olmate?I remember gettin caught by me old lady with a scoob, she called the local cop Rexy who told her it wasnt to calm her down, what a legend.Have a great life...........PEACE AND ALL THE LOVE...FILBZ
