Fraud Involving Abandoned Indian Ridge Resort Sends 3 People to Prison 

I knew the original owner who bought this land with the intent of developing it. I met him through a mutual friend and was allowed to hunt, hike, camp, all that good stuff, all over the entire 1,000ish original acres. I remember when the construction started, watched it slow down, then things got weird, but we were assured it was okay. Showed up to hunt one morning and found gates with heavy chains and locks blocking all the access points. Signs all over that said something to the effect of “FDIC Property. No Trespassing.” And they were EVERYWHERE. My buddy and I had at least a dozen tree stands on the property, so we made some calls and ended up basically being told by local LE to get our stuff as quick as possible and go. Whomever they had put the signs out had done such a thorough job surveying the property, that each tree we had a stand in, had a sign affixed to the ladders used to access the stand. It’s a shame what happened because it’s a beautiful property. I truly think he had great intentions; he just had no clue how to make it happen and got mixed in with some shady people who really brought it all crashing down.

I grew up near this area! Me and some friends explored a few of the buildings a few years after the place was abandoned, 2010? Those buildings started to fall apart FAST after the project went belly up.
