This squer plastic single one side record came whit the "Freak Brothers" comicalbum "Sæt Hønsene Løs", Denmark, (Set Your Chiskens Free) in 1982 And is was not yet on the net. But here it is.
Hub City Movers included Jimmy Dale Gilmore (acoustic guitar vocals), Ike Ritter (lead guitar) and Jerry Barnett (drums), maybe Ed Vizard on saxophone, plus one other person I didn't know (saw them in the last days of the Vulcan Gas Company in spring 1970). They also released a vinyl 45 single of the Chicken Song with B side "I Can't Know Tomorrow", written by Al Strehli, a beautiful sad song which seems to not be around. I lost my copy of the single years ago.
Merle Haggard did a version of this song in 1994. Of course he changed the lyric “I took some LSD” with “I took some vitamin C” and added a few additional, meaningless lyrics. It can’t beat the Hub City Movers version. I’ve always thought that Gilbert Shelton’s lewd, crude, and rude “Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers” was one of the most original (and hilarious) underground comics from the 60’s.
