Embarkation day of our 2 night mini cruise, September 2023 from Newcastle, repositioning to Southampton, on Fred Olsen Balmoral. Including speciality dining Colours and Tastes. Day 2 to follow.
It was really nice, despite being one of the older ships in service these days I guess. Having so few folk onboard made the whole experience a little odd though; we were outnumbered by staff quite often in the bars. But I think that was due to the short itinerary.
We really enjoyed our meal there on Balmoral, and we've booked Colours and Tastes again on Borealis, on our next Fred Olsen adventure in 2024. We're looking forward to that.
Oh wow, i think we met! I was on deck 8 in an obstructed view and it was amazing, it had a bath too which i didnt have chance to use but i was very impressed! Happy cruising ❤
Yeah it was a lot of fun, we definitely want to sail with Fred on a longer cruise, to get a chance to check out all the onboard stuff! Was it you we were chatting to by the bus back to Newcastle?
Thank you. Both restaurants were very good, and like you say, I'm sure they're similar across the fleet. And yes, we expected to not have a full ship on a short repositioning cruise, but so few onboard was a real surprise!
We were there! Well, on that mini cruise. Haven't spotted us yet so waiting for part 2! Our first cruise in 21 years. Booked for Balmoral and (hopefully) the Northern Lights next year.
Thanks for the kind comments, we're learning as we go, and its really nice to hear positive feedback. We're pretty much booked up with holidays until June (which we will be vlogging), but we do plan to try both the other Fred Olsen ships, as we really enjoyed the short time on Balmoral
Apologies for late reply, and no, I don't recall any karaoke onboard. The ship was too empty for it anyway. Hope you have a great cruise, and hopefully there might be some on yours. There was on our last 2 night from Liverpool, I think.
