So many times I've attempted to explain this show to others (mainly a vague description of: man in crazy shirts crawling thru log and a guitar). No one could remember it. After finding it here, Im thrilled to know I wasnt alone lol
Same here. Just found this last night after years of asking people about a guy that crawled through a log. And now I've watched this opening like 10 times.
I did! My sister and I loved those shows. This one, David the Gnome, Eureka's Castle, and Under the Umbrella Tree were some of our favorites. Also the 7 or so minute of "The Cat Came Back." I remember watching that on tv over and over. :D
Probably was alternate Fred Penner from a different continuum... If they would've shook hands they would've collapsed into a singularity and wiped out various parallel and adjacent dimensions like in time cop but with more horror because it's Fred Penner
-Spends days trying to remember the name of this show to no avail -Googles "kid's show crawls through a log" -This video is the first hit Ahhh, much better. ^_^
Love Fred Penner! I got a chance to spend some time with him a couple of years ago when I was volunteering at a festival that he was performing at and he is one of the most kind-hearted people I have ever met. It was so neat to discover that the musician I loved as a child was exactly the sort of person I had imagined him to be.
+Danielle Washington That's cool! Glad to hear you got to enjoy some of Canada's TV shows for kids growing up. Those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's and got to enjoy this stuff are very blessed. :)
Fred Penner actually came and spoke to my recording arts class a couple of years back and treated us to a mindblowing performance of all his greatest hits
I remember when I was a kid I was a huge Fred Penner fan. I even got a chance to meet him once (a feeling I've really only expierienced twice in my life, the other time being when I met John Carpenter at Fan Expo). I haven't listened tohis stuff in years, but as far as I can recall he was a pretty cool guy as far as children's singers go. He also exposed me to things I'd never have noticed otherwise, since every now and then I hear an old tune and remember hearing Fred sing it as a kid.
I loved this show so much! Fred Penner made me wanna learn how to play a guitar as a kid. I'm horribly out of practice but I remember borrowing my brother's guitar and sitting down watching this show and trying to play the songs too. :)
I love this so much, Fred Penner was a big part of my childhood. My dad would change the channel to his show and you'd just sit there...and watch. Smile. and watch. Sometimes you sing along, if you know the song. but mostly, it was just awesome. Maybe I will meet him someday. That too, would be awesome.
this was on of the early Nick Jr. shows. Before Nick Jr. had an identity. During summer time or being off from school, this was among the gems I loved watching.
I still wish I could meet this man before I die. I've seen him in gatherings and he has this infectious aura to make people sing and dance and be happy no matter where he goes! Just...surreal. :D
I used to love this show, if I knew what channel and time it was on I would definatly watch the old re-runs... It must have been a good 10 years give or take since I seen the show or even the intro. The thought of having a secret place that nobody else knows of is awesome. And having it on the beach where a look out on the ocean is there for the taking.
I seen him at the Evolve festival in Nova Scotia last saturday. I started to cry, it was a very emotional moment for me. I got to meet him and get a picture with him! I was literally crying (id say mainly because of the stuff i was getting into the night before) but still very emotional moment for me.
Fred Penner is awesome! Iloved this show when I was a kid. He's coming to my local mall and I really want to see him because of all the memories it will bring back!! I'm 24 and I want to go see Fred Penner!!! lol
Me and my sister TOTALLY idolized this guy when we were little. I still do. My 9 year old daughter had the pleasure of meeting Fred Penner in person a couple of years back, on a school trip. He was performing at our local church and my daughter said he is a VERY nice guy. Naturally, I was jealous!! LOL! I would have given anything to go on her trip, meet my childhood hero, and tell him how much of a fan I am. : )
WHEN FRED PENNER WAS CANCELED I ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE ONE OF HIS FUCKING DAUGHTERS REPLACE HIM BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This show WAS my childhood. Such good memories, oh my god. So many good shows: Babar, Under The Umbrella Tree, Mr.Dressup, Sesame Street, Inspector Gadget, Camp Keener, Muppets, TMNT, Care Bears, Chip n Dales, Duck Tales, Tail Spin!!!!
I remember this show. It very BRIEFLY ran in the USA on Nickeoldeon around 1989 and 1990. A shame it didn't run longer...it has a charm that can't be matched by any contemporary kid's shows.
YES! I'm an 80's child too and since I lived in Michigan, we got a couple Canadian channels...Loved this show. I live in Texas now, and met a friend a couple years ago that was a guest on this show when she was a kid! I couldn't believe it.
Fred Penner Mr Dressup Friendly Giant Shining time station Sharon Lois and Bram are all shows I grew up with when I was little wish they still had quality programing like this on still. Long live the good old days
I watched the intro to Today’s Special and thought, let me scroll down and see if any other intros are suggested from old shows and this popped up. I didn’t remember it but figured I’d give it a shot. Right away I was confused because something felt familiar about the intro but barely. I couldn’t remember if it was a show I used to watch but still I had these hints of feelings I know I’d have watching shows, like feeling interested and curious about what it be like to walk into an opening in the woods to an area that’s hidden but I still wasn’t sure….until the crawling through the log! It hit me, I don’t remember the show, but I remember thinking, wow his entrance is a hollow log! I wonder what it’s like inside, are there bugs? I also would think, man he barely fits but it is so cool. I’m blown away at this lost memory and have to find episodes to see what I remember.
I always say to my frineds. I sounded crazy when I say "a musician to entertain walking though the forest crawls through an old log to his secret place to play songs.... wow but great show I LOVED it and WAS and IS my childhood! along with "Under the Umbrella Tree" and "the elephant show"
OMG!!! How could i forget this show! I used to love this show a lot!! It's strange how time can make you forget most of your childhood memories!! Thanks for posting!
Fred Penner, Mr. Dressup, shining time station, Mr. Rogers, theodore the tugboat and all those cartoons like duck tales. Can't believe I was glued to the tv and loved those shows.
I was just scrolling through the old Nick Jr wiki looking for a completely different show and saw this mentioned and decided to check out the intro. The moment he crawled through the log in the end ancient memories slammed into the front of my brain like an unexpected truck,
this brings back such wonderful memories, my brother and i would run to the TV when it was time to watch fred penners, how we loved it, when the beaver came on we'd lay on our backs and smack our bellies yelling BEAVER BOYS BEAVER BOYS oh and we'd laugh and laugh, our mom would run in and say YOU BEAVER BOYS BETTER START BEHAVING and the'd she'd wrestle us and tickle us and kiss us and this would go on and on until we were both in our college years when we had to watch them on old VHS and the kissing got more serious and we made love
oh my god..word bird.. I totally forgot. Holy cow, I'm close to tears watching this.. watched everyday from 3-5. I'm turning 23 in a couple of weeks. I used to sit in front of the set with either a kids' guitar or xylophone.
I've been looking for this for like 20 years!!! I knew there was a show I used to see where a person crawled through a tree log! I knew this was real!!!
I use to watch this show as a child and than many years down the road while working at a hotel Fred Penner was doing a show. All I could think of when I saw him was giving him a great big hug... BTW, I'm 6'4 220 lbs. Just goes to show that sometimes we can still find the inner-child in all of us.
Oh my god, I'm going crazy with all these youtube shows. Fred Penner, Mr. Dressup, Tailspin, Darkwing Duck, Babar, Under the Umbrella Tree, Tintin, Teddy Ruxpin, TMNT, Inspector Gadget, Bonkers, Sesame Street...I love it! Takes me back to my child hood.
gah!!! MY CHILDHOOD!!! i ....loved this show...there were so many great shows in the 80's and 90's...what happened? LoL i always remember him coming out of the log, that's the only memory i have of this show except for a guitar, i always remembered him having a guitar...and that he looked like my Uncle Rod :D
Wow! I am "glad" to know that I am not the only one that was driving myself batty trying to figure out the name of this show. No one could even remember that this show existed. For whatever reason it resonated with me all these years. I just kept signing the song " Happy feet, I've got those happy....(something about a beat)...and they begin daaaaaaaaaannncing!
I used to love this show! My brother was younger than me and made my mom get him sweaters and sweatshirts so he could dress like Fred Penner! We saw him live in concert once because my brother begged and cried to be allowed to go.
omg i loved this show way back, i was really attached to my dad when i was in pre-school and Fred Penner looks like my Dad and that's also why i love this show he loved national geographic and this show always made me think of my Dad:)
i have been trying to find this show for years but all i could remember was a guy named fred who lived in a log and sang songs. i refused to leave for school every day until i watched it
I FEEL like I remember this show! I remember his beard and that awesome sweeater! And when he was crawling through that tunnel, it looked so farmiliar!
Watched this all the time after pre school in the early 90's on nickelodeon. My mom would make me peanut butter and jelly and put some chips on a plate, this and The Elephant Show.
this takes me back =) my dad has always resembled Fred Penner (the hair, the beard, a bit in the face) so when I was little I used to point at the T.V. and call Fred Penner 'Daddy'
Please tell him what an amazing man he is! my mom made a tape of his show for me when I was a baby, and I watched him along with Sharon Lois and Bram every day when I was little...
