Just watched the video after leaving Joe to his own devices this weekend, thank you all for the continued messages of support. We really appreciate your kindness, patience and input through the rebuild. It has turned in to a bigger project than we anticipated (they always do) but we are loving every second. Sorry I didn't film the cleaning of the airbox, frame and engine case (it was a fairly boring and icky job but an important one nonetheless!). Looking forward to the Egg run in sunny Stoke this weekend, pop over and say Hi if you see us.
He ought to make FREDDIE go on some BIKE MAINTENANCE COURSES before he HANDS IT OVER. Instead of FUCKING OFF abroad every 5 minutes. 😂🤣😂😂🤣 Would like that bike in my fold after having that lads SKILLS dropped on it. Yes it'll be a MINTER.
Nice to see such a thorough professional job being done on this well used but poorly looked after bike. You e saved this bike from the breakers yard and hopefully Freddie Dobbs will pay the bill in full, take good care of the bike and bring it to you for service and repairs in the future. 🙏
Freddie is a lucky boy having you doing such a top quality job as a gesture. I wouldn't be surprised if you've already got a long list of inquiries from people wanting projects done. you two are a class act, thanks for the vids.
This is why a real professional like you has to be well paid. I don't believe anyone would complain about price when they understand the level of detail, knowledge and time it takes to make things well. Cheers from Portugal.
Though Joe wasn't dropping anything today , my Sunday wasn't complete. Hope there is another build/fix up after Freddy Is moving again. Love the channel Joe.
Wow Joe and Emily, you have spent so much time on Freddie’s bike and obviously more to go. Bike parts looking great, can’t wait to see the finished result. Hooked on your channel Joe. You should maybe do a mystery visit to Freddie in 6 months time once he has taken the bike back, that would be a great video.😂
Great work Joe from another Joe, I'm from Stoke and will be on the run on Sunday, I'll be on a 77 yellow Honda 400 four so shouldn't be too hard to spot lol, will keep an eye for you
I went with the TTP/UTP stage 2 kit for my 04 T100. It works well with the jet kits I bought for TORS and a 2-1 now just using the 2-1. The TTP/UTP airbox allowed me to fit a bigger Odyssey Racing 15 battery fitted along with a FH020CA reg/reg from a S1000XR bolted to the battery box.
Hope your going to do a Big Reveal, and make Freddie sign a contract to look after it, what I would like to see is you showing Freddy some basic maintenance and servicing in your work shop.
This bike will be better than when it was new, cant wait to see it all go back together.. Well done Joe & Emily PS @FreddieDobbs love those new blue trousers, they fitted well and looked great 👍
Great series Joe, good to see the nuts and bolts of a rebuild - perhaps Freddie could have helped clean the frame before jetting off to India ? !!!! 😊😊
Joe & Emily, your channel has become my favourite watch on RU-vid. I think I’m going to have to start cleaning my Bonnie more thoroughly 🤦🏼♂️! Thanks for great entertainment.
Following all your videos now!! I can't wait to see the result!! Also my Bonneville runs super rich, but after seeing where the potential issues can be I have now a lead to follow and few upgrades to consider. Nice job. Great videos and excellent description of the process!!!
Joe, thanks for another great episode, this has turned into a fascinating series. I would love to learn more about your background and how you have ended up doing what you do. If this was covered in an earlier episode my apologies I must have missed it but perhaps others may also be interested.
Great work as always Joe! I don’t believe what I’m seeing! You & Emily (the star) are cleaning & rebuilding the Bonneville to almost new levels, yet Freddie & Monika are in India riding the most dirtiest & unkempt motorcycles… he’s gonna think that’s normal for keeping bikes real🤦♂️ Please give him a wake up call 🤟
You're doing a proper job on that bike! 🙌 I rebuilt a 2000 SV650 a year ago, same attitude, you can't put clean refurbished running gear back onto a grubby frame, Freddie's Bonneville is going to look mint! 👌 My only fear is it will never be as clean or well maintained again, you're going to have to give Freddie some maintenance and cleaning classes!
Can't wait to hear the bike start up, it will look and sound like it's just rolled out of the dealership, 'but better'. I just hope it's a nice day when Freddie comes to pick it up or he'll have loads of cleaning to do when he gets it back 😁
Great video. For painting the frame I've found an exact paint match for 2006-2010 triumph Bonneville and Scrambler models (not sure about other years as haven't tried it on other years outside this year range) Halfords own Satin Black spray paint, hope this helps someone. Even great for a light dusting of paint to cover marks on the frame etc.
I think you and your wife have gone above and beyond to get that bike sorted out. I suspect Freddie won't know what to do with himself once he has a proper running machine again. Hopefully he won't go doing any more impressions of a submarine 🤣
I live in Canada and there aren't to many shops around me that provide your kind of service, they're more interested in get it in get it done and get the money, Freddie's Bonnie is getting the kind of lovein' care that is rare and hard to find. I have been following the rebuild from the start and you've inspired me to do a few upgrades on my Binnie. Will you be doing a video of the installation of the Safe Start on on Freddie's bike, I am interested to see how that goes, I have one for my Bonnie and will be installing it in the spring when all the snow has gone. Looking forward the the rest of the videos and the finish product, Freddie's a lucky dude you came along.
Loving this series! I was wondering about the snorkel delete with Freddie though, with how much he rides and leaves the bike in poor conditions are you at all worried about water ingress or clogging of the filter unit?
Awesome job mate. I strongly suspect that's the cleanest that bike has been since it left the showroom ...and I know it's the cleanest it'll ever be once Dobbs has got it back. 😆 Though I recognised Emily's accent ...tell her I'm from 'dine 'Castle, near the owd Vic'.
@@thatniallagain4161 I have absolute confidence in Emily's ability to make a proper job of it, it takes more than a recipe to make a decent meat 'n tater and I'm not sure Joe has the right genetics ...and I've just heard Stoke have issued a recall ...they want Emily back ...something to do with passing state secrets.😄
I can't imagine how many hours you have in that bike. Street bikes today should have belt drive.Much cleaner and much cheaper cost per mile than a chain. You ended up doing a restoration on that bike.
I've heard conflicting advice about removing the air baffle. Some say don't remove it, because it smooths the air flow. Like a velocity stack. I don't know.
Sure is a lot easier getting to the baffle with the air box off the bike! I did this to my Bonneville while on bike. There are a couple of the cover screws very hard to access b/c of frame inference...lots of cursing ensued. Have heard of others just melting the baffle with a heat gun/hairdryer from the air filter opening until the plastic softens t o allow it to be pulled out the filter opening. Don't understand how that doesn't also soften the airbox plastic, but they say it is not an issue.
Yes. You are right. Did it to my scrambler last month. Easy job. 5minutes. Take air filter out and heat up with hairdryer. Put on a thin winter glove. This is because it’s hot and a bit sharp. Then pull the restrictor plate out with all your might. Mines came out whole. No messing. Then up grade your TTP tune :)
@@abeltriumph5057 Can't recall, but is the baffle made of a different plastic than rest of airbox? Maybe a stiffer/brittle plastic rather than the bendy, softer type for rest of box? That could explain why the box does not suffered from heating damage.
It's so funny whenever you spot issues and I can think of the exact Freddie video that explains it. Ingrained dirt on the frame... remember that time Freddie told us he only cleans the bike by spraying it all with GT85 and giving it a wipe down? Tbf though it could be much worse in terms of rust, at least his unique methods slowed that down.
In a recent vid of his, Dobbs was toying with thoughts of taking this on some stages of the TET… I think I can confidently speak for most viewers here in saying a hard “NO! NO! NO!” 😱😱😱 (That’s “thrice nay!” for anyone else old enough to remember Frankie Howerd.) 😁
Great work asper usual, need some advise if possible. I purchased a 865 and want to start changing a few things. As I have checked a few things on the bike it looks like it already has had the O2 sensor delete, the air injection delete and also the air box modification with DNA filter fitted. Obviously this has saved me some time but it does suffer from a snatchy throttle when coming back on the throttle from over run. Reading up it looks like a remap needs doing, could you recommend someone? Keep up the great work. Alex.
@@TheWurks YOU are a wise man. The opportunity to have Freddie's audience get to know you through this rebuild adventure (and to witness your wizardry and expertise) is far more valuable than the billing on one bike. You're the UK version of "The Bearded Mechanic", the spinoff channel from the great Bikes and Beards channel. Really enjoying your rebuild content. I look forward to more of it after the completion of Freddie's machine.
Why not go all the way and go with pod filters? One of the best mods I ever did for my 2005 Speedmaster was doing the full airbox removal kit with pod filters straight on the carbs. Sure finding proper jetting and needle height was bit of a pain but it made working with the carbs heavenly easy when I didn't have that awful plastic box in the way. And it looks and sound cool too. This being EFI you do not have a jetting problem, any motorcycle dyno could measure it and adjust the fueling spot on correct through the rev range.
@@TheWurks Thats fair. And now that I think about it, if Freddie ever tries to test his Bonnies submarine capabilities again then it is better to have the intake a little bit higher than they are with pods. 😁
Love seeing this come together #thewurks Question I have a stock 2007 T100 Q1 Would I need to re tune the carbs If I added the triumph DNA filter and airbox baffle remove? Q2 would I need to re tune the carbs if I added just the triumph DNA filter And would I notice any performance? thanks
Well thanks Joe for another great video, love watching you, what a marvellous job, is this your full time business or do you do something else, thanks again one thing can you tell me how I can buy you a coffee, I am a bit of a dinosaur, Thanks again Ted NW biker dude
Classic that you're trying to be angry but laughing at the fact that she's laughing at you for being grumpy with your small crap tasting 4 quid coffee. Well done to you both.
I understand that Freddie once said he found out it was a low category write-off, if so..does this mean all the work you have done has now returned the bike to "non- write-off"..?
Are you installing a POWER COMMANDER as part of the airbox modification? If not, why not? The reason I’m asking is because I’m thinking of fitting one to my 2010 Bonnie on the back of the same airbox mod and the fitting of a K&N filter and Triumph TORS silencers and I’m just trying to determine if fitting a PC is a bit too overkill or not.
I may have missed this from earlier videos but, with the modded airbox, high flow filter and straight through pipes, will you be reflashing the ECU to suit?
