With maturity comes perspective & Queen members all did solo projects; it's natural for that level of creativity to need to try new things, if nothing else, out of sheer boredom. But Brian May always said of Queen as a band: "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts."
I like some tracks from the album MBG, I love Barcelona because Freddie got one of his dreams to come true, to sing opera with Montsy someone he admired a lot! I remember hearing him say something like "Iv'e got one of the best voices in the world" & He wasn't talking about himself bless him, he meant Montsy. As Freddie stated, he enjoyed being together with the rest of Queen & rightly so, the four of them together created so many iconic albums. Ty SoundAndVision🙏✨
I think they all knew that Queen was the most important thing!!! It was always the four together that worked,not individually!!!! I remember another interview when they asked Freddie about a solo album and he said he would make a lot of money,but his album didn’t do as much as a Queen album!! This new cough woke me up!! 😜 Soz to edit, I'm just gonna stick the kettle on I've woken my son by accident, he's been so stressed I've been trying to get him to relax but every time I move or cough he's up my butt!! I mean don't get me wrong, I know it's normal & I love him but he needs rest/relax too.
Roger was the first to venture on his own and he did a great job. It’s only natural Brian and Freddie would follow suit, even John did some collaboration work with other artist as well. It’s natural they wanted to all spend time apart and venture on their own without any input from the others. MBG was a good album, and reflected how Freddie felt at the time, musically and personally. Barcelona was an album he really had his full heart and soul into because he was singing with a woman he looked up to with great admiration and it showed in the final product. At the end of the day, the band together brought out the best in all of them creatively and musically. Going their own way and doing separate projects was healthy and gave them a new outlet to explore, but they knew home was the band, and absence made the heart grow fonder.
