For the first time, the doors of Freddie Mercury's home (known as Garden Lodge) have been opened to the public in a one-of-a-kind exhibition and auction at Sotheby's in London titled Freddie Mercury: A World of His Own. All of Freddie's belongings, including furnishings, clothing, musical instruments and more, are on display in Mayfair before going under the hammer in an auction that is expected to raise millions of pounds.
In this video, you will visit Freddie Mercury's house in Kensington before joining Sinead on an incredible visit to Sotheby's to see all the items that are up for bids. This is a revealing look into the private life and mind of one of music's most famous - but private - individuals. @Nils_Martin
Not only was he a Rock’n Roll genius, he had good taste as well 🤩
@aairsick
The curation was exquisite! It was presented as a museum rather than an auction lot by lot tour. Seeing all these things together just makes one sad that Freddie didn’t live long enough to benefit from the medical triumphs over HIV we know today. He was a gifted man. We were lucky the world loved him as big as they did while he was alive. Very sad for Mary I’m sure to part with these things but it is certainly understandable. I’m curious what she might have held back for herself. Thank you for the update.
@Posey12345
Now I would like to say Why not have everything in his house remain there and make it a museum for ALL to see in the coming YEARS .......with things being auctioned off again it will be the WEALTHY who will enjoy Freddy's possessions as they purchase them CONGRATS AGAIN ELITE
@ThatIsJustCrazyTalk
I believe you’re telling a tall tale about Freddie dying 32 years ago (I know it was 32 years ago). I remember it as though it were yesterday. He’s the only celebrity death I’ve ever shed a tear over, none before or none since.
@loritrainor7052
Oh, Sinead this brought tears to my eyes. What a magnificent collection of Freddie’s personal things. I can only imagine what it was like for you to see them in person. I am very aware of his need for privacy, but I am hoping and praying that some million or billionaire buys most of his more public items, costumes, gold records, crown etc and donates to or starts a Freddie Mercury/Queen museum for all fans to see and enjoy. Thank You so much for showing us these fabulous treasures. 👑🎤🎼🎹💜
@quickclipsbyjmj
MUCH love, Sinead. Thank you very very very much for visiting this pre-auction exhibition. Just how beautiful Garden Lodge is. A green oasis in the middle of all those grimy looking buildings. Plus, Fred's stunning taste in everything from art to fabrics. Fantabulousa.
@Steve-Cross
No straight man, has that amazing taste in art and furnishings. Definitely possessions of a flamboyant character. Freddie was a real gift to us all, and now we all miss him dearly.
@michelehood8837
Honestly? I’d rather have a photo of Freddie and his cat than anything else. 🐈
@blackbirdqueena7089
How sad it is that she put the most precious things of Freddie on auction, these memorable things will be sold on highest bider and will be lost forever! I’m so sad , how its not possible to build a museum and sell the tickets in favor of AIDS charity?!It was a nice tour and thank you.
@alliekuma4234
There will truly never be another like him. I'm glad he is still so loved and appreciated. I got goosebumps when I saw the Bohemian Rhapsody piano. ♥ Thank you as always Sinead!
@marthalisk303
This hurts.
@colinpratt3399
Thanks Sinead for allowing us through your video to visit this exhibition of one of the greats. I was lucky enough to see Queen twice. Freddie was such a brilliant front man, he knew how to get the audience in his hands.
@robertspalmsprings
If I was a millionaire- I would sit you down at that auction and let you bid on every item you wanted! Lot 243- The diamond studded pin--SOLD to the fabulous Miss Sinead for ten million pounds!
@gilbertbrisebois185
His house and personal stuff should not have been auctioned off , its should of stayed inside and his house turned into a museum . A lot of peiple would of loved to make a tour inside and payed to go see it , but i guess money is more important then memories is better for some people . (Brigitte from Canada ) Freddie was and still his the best signer in the world
@lunis471
The love of his life awe they stood by each other in their solid friendship and soul mates how wonderful. Freddy would support what she's doing I'm sure and she has all the memories she wants of Freddie that's for sure. Wowza you surely come up with the good Sinead you seriously know your stuff. If I ran a show I'd want you to be the top presenter in it!!
@cassandrawright-mq5kp
Brilliant job, Sinead. Thank you. It was lovely to see Freddie's stuff, yet--it's sad to say, when he got heavy into the drugs his music changed, his friends changed, and it all started sounding darker, weirder & sadder. Then rumors began swirling of Freddie's debauched behavior from the NYC weekend he hosted Saturday Night Live to London to Germany. Shortly after all the press hounding he was "ill." Myself, I wouldn't want any items of his, bit too much 'negative energy,' even now. Lovely to see his collection. I think many of those items were featured in a Queen video. Yes, I first heard Freddie's song, "Love of My Life," written, arranged and sung by Freddie just for Mary Austin, recently. Brought tears to my eyes, so gentle, loving and I'm certain, Freddie Mercury's only song with lovely harp music. (cannot imagine how long you stood in line!). BTW, Darling---72 yrs old isn't, "almost 80!" There's near an entire decade in there. Cheers!
@mercurygirl77
A distant cousin of mine was just there this past week. Loved all of her photos. What I wouldn't give to be able to buy at least one thing of his. Absolutely love Freddie!!!
@cpparkinson5109
Well this was bittersweet. So sad that he died so young and to remember that we lost a legend. To see his life and the nostalgic feelings of memories and the private side we wouldn't of makes this tour video one of your best. Thank you.
@connorrhodesmd3236
PLEASE do a tour of places that members of Queen would've had connection with in the past such as colleges, places they have performed and lived, the place where Freddie and Roger had their little shop at the start, places they ate and hung out ...anything you can think of pertaining to them. It would be an awesome tour!
