Ah Freddie Fender. My Mom LOVED him. I took her to see him in a small theater in Chattanooga. She enjoyed it so much, she kept saying where is he.. She was soooo excited when he did his show. I took her back stage to meet him. It was a GREAT memory, since she passed in 2009.
Being from south Texas Freddy Fender was always someone you listen to on radio. When he was with Texas tornadoes it was always a good time! Thanks for this video
This is when country was good. Happy childhood memories, my parents we're so much younger then too and had their own country band doing the clubs of England..they were so good. My dad sang, played every guitar and wrote his own music. I used to play with him on keyboard. What a wonderful gift he gave meWe still listen to these kings and queens. My dads in his 70's now and dementia is creeping in💔😪 but I sit and show him you tube legends and he's young again. I love you so much dad❤❤❤.long live union Pacific (his band) .
Love and miss Marty! The man was a genius; his sense of humor is legendary and his facial expressions are priceless! I am so glad we have these videos and can share them with the younger ones - no half naked, screechy wannabes
I stood backstage at the Opry when Freddie made his debut, and everyone stood there in awe when he started singing,we could not believe the voice he had. Puts chill bumps on us all. He was so great.
A great pairing. Marty loved our Spanish Southwest music and traditions and convinced Roy Acuff to allow Spanish Trumpets on the Opry as part of accepted Country instruments.
I bought my first Freddy Fender 8 track tape in 1972.. and in 1978 I graduated high school and joined the Pipefitters Local Union #823 in Harlingen Texas, where I worked in Freddy's hometown of San Benito Texas... Good ol'days..🍷😎🎸
Freddy has such a beautiful natural vibrato in his voice. I always loved it. Finally I figured out that my dad also was a tenor with a beautiful natural vibrato. No wonder I love it.

I remember when I was a teen and we first hear Freddy Fender sing . All the girls were in love. He sounded so sexy He could sing so well. Many if the girls were disappointed when they saw him on TV . He was older and had a family,. He really could sing and those same girls probably liked his looks in a few years they matured.
'baltimore huerta'...also known as 'freddy fender''. when i met my hubby over 40 years ago he looked exactly like marty robbins. we couldn't go anywhere without someone coming up and asking for his autograph. i tease him all the time that it would have been even better if he sang like marty!...lol
