Thank you for doing a reaction to this video of Freddy Fender. I have so many memories of my father to this song. My father passed away in 2017 Christmas Eve every time I hear this song I think about my old man how I miss him so much. 😪
Back in the Day my mom sang with Freddy before he was famous and sang in beer joints. His real name was Baldemar Garza Huerta. He was a friend of the family back before my parents were married. He was cousins to my mom's 2nd cousin but no blood relationship to us. I never got a chance to meet him before he died. Whenever he'd see his cousin he'd ask about my mom.
In the 90’s Freddy formed a supergroup with several other Texas/Mexican artists called The Texas Tornadoes. You should check out their song Who Were You Thinking Of. It’s awesome.
First heard this man when I was serving in Belize with the British army r + r on those beaches with this on the radio ..... Never felt so far away from all my word.
Thank you for your service. I know from being in Hawaii that no matter how beautiful it is it still not home and you're still not with your loved ones. Thank you for your sacrifice.
LOL Mine too! Cruising in my mom's awesome 1968 Chrysler Impala with Freddie Fender, Charlie Pride, and Sandy Posey crooning it up on the tape deck! Memories...dang good ones, too!
Thanks for the memories. You are a sweetheart. Open minded. Wonderful attitude. A positive change from so many of the younger kids today. Keep it up girlie girl!!❤
GOSH! Blast from the past! My mom LOVED him and he was on the radio ALL the time. I loved it too. I loved watching her dance around her room singing this. Not long after, Julio Igleias came on the scene and BAM...the whole world fell in love. So, I took Spanish in school because of this two...my mom did and I do love.
I remember my Mom played this on 8 track in her Ford Maverick around 1975. Freddie was first Mexican American artist to win single, album and country male vocalist in 1975 and before next tear drop was number 1 on billboard. Thanks for your reaction.
Freddy lived in Corpus Christi Texas around the corner from my sister I used to work with his half brother who has a house painter believe it or not Freddie was an extremely friendly person very humble
I was living at South Lake Tahoe in the late 70s. My parents brought my grandparents up to see him perform at Harrah's Hotel & Casino one weekend. My grandmother just loved him. We were all at the store ( they wanted to get some food & stuff for their hotel room )....and as we were arriving in the parking lot....Freddy Fender was just coming out (....he was getting stuff for HIS room...)....and happened to be parked right next to where we were. My grandmother flipped, and he must've spent at least 10 minutes talking with her there in the parking lot. A SUPER nice dude.
What a blast from my youth. So young, my mother used to make me sing this for everybody because I memorized the Spanish but couldn’t speak it...I think I was 5. Another great Mexican Country artist of the 70’s was Johnny Rodriquez. Anyone remember him?
Awesome! Thank you for reacting to this India. I absolutely love your channel. Before the Next Teardrop Falls was a number one hit on pop and country, when I was in High School in 1974. Freddy will always be #1 in my heart! I was born in the green Valley. Love Tex-Mex music!
I was born in '67 , and some of my earliest memories that I have has this song playing in the background ! Along side Me & Bobby McGee and Miss American Pie .
I love these songs ! My dad used to sing them on Sunday mornings. I actually met him when I lived in Corpus Christi, Tx. He was so relatable and yes, his voice just pulled heart strings ❤️
Two very awesome songs by the late great Freddy Fender love his music thanks to my mom an dad who was always listening to the greats from yester-year!!!
Wow. As a kid in the 70s I recall my grandmother played this 8-track on every road trip. It was either Freddy Fender or Charlie Pride every time. takes me waaaay back.
Hey, maybe she should react to Charlie Pride! Wow, hadn’t thought of either of these two in years, but I always loved them. There was such a wide and interesting range of music in the ‘70s, and all of it was popular.
I am glad that someone requested this also, because I mentioned it some months ago. Thank you for reacting. Oh, and another classic If You Lose Me, You Lose a Good Thing.
Thank you for this reaction. Took me back some years, listening to Freddy, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Straight, just to mention a few. AWESOME
Freddy had a great voice!!! My sister used to sing “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” and other great songs by different singers. I miss you and your great singing sis 😇💖‼️
I love Freddie Fender! I have not listened to this since I was a child. My mom would put it on while she cleaned the house. My sister and I would have to sit on the couch until she was done. Lol fond memories.
My father sang this song to me for years and years even up to2003 before he pass in his sleep and even to this day I can hear him sing it..I sing this song all the time as he did ..I just lovethis song ..And he look just like him....wish I could post a pic of my father so you all could see him..
There is a whole generation of us who were kids when he was popular and our mothers played these songs over and over (and over). These songs are on my (& dh's ) playlist. He was fishing with his couain in Bama and he and his cousin were singing so loudly that they probably scared the fish away!
Senior Fender... a hero (musical) and the one of the best Mexican American artists of all time Ms. India.. my aunt lived about 10 blocks from his original home in Corpus Christi, Texas :)
Freddy Fender was a member of the outstanding Tex Mex band the Texas Tornados. The band also included Doug Sahm of the Sir Douglas Quintet, but Doug died. RIP. I highly recommend you check out the Texas Tornados.
The year 1975 was a great year for country songs crossing over to the Billboard pop singles chart! Along with Freddy Fender's "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" reaching the No. 1 spot at the end of May, Olivia Newton-John hit the top spot with "Have You Never Been Mellow?" in March, B.J. Thomas did so with "(Hey, Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" in April, and John Denver hit No. 1 with "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" in June and then with "I'm Sorry" in September.
