One of my best memories is at a concert Las Fiesta de los Flores in El Paso with the Texas Tornadoes. When he sang this, you could hear a pin drop until a few minutes in there was an entire chorus of sing-a-longs but it sounded good, not clashing at all. At the end, he choked up and bowed his head and said Gracias, mi gente.
All his songs remind me of days long past when living with family in Spanish Bay, Puunene, Maui in the 1970's! Freddy Fender you are still a hit here in Hawaii!
Freddy Fender was a wonderful guy, never knew a stranger and could sing any song and make it sound great. I hated to see him go but he will NEVER be forgotten, he will always be remembered by millions! Pat
I read in Freddy's biography that he danced around while singing and playing guitar when he was young and just starting out as a star. The comment his 🎉manager always said was "Freddy was a star before he became a star" He was in his early 40's before his career started up again. The info in his book shows his determination to get one of his songs on the Top Billboards and to become an entertainer. That he accomplished 10 Fold, lucky for all us fans who still listen and love his voice!
I live in the Rio Grande Valley in harlingen, my uncle larry met Freddy fender when my uncle was working at a motorcycle shop in harlingen back in the early 90s, its so cool he has a picture of him and Freddy next to a bike

Aw hell, I miss Freddy Fender. I was18 or 19 hanging out in a truck stop in Las Cruces and this was set to play on the jukebox about every other tune. All. Night. Long. It drilled into my soul, and I was forever a Freddy fan.

Totally classic Freddy Fender!! Just look at that very excitable personality and the relating to the audience - the latino hoots and hows 0 hecha, hecha, hecha le Freddy. I have attached my humble version of Before the Next Teardrop. Tu amigo, Johnny Pal
